Well of course. I want them to be scared shitless about saying that bullshit because they might get punched in the mouth for it. I also just want to make sure that people punching nazis are held accountable for their actions as well. You can't put a "punching nazis" exemption in the assault laws.
All I have to say is that change isn't always pretty. To use an old adage "You can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs."
And this is the attitude the country needs to have regarding Nazis. It's important to shut that shit down with violence if necessary, but law and order is important as well.
If I punch a Nazi and the Nazi wants to press charges so be it. Also, I'd never just walk up and punch one. Those dudes are completely unhinged and you can more than easily antagonize one of them into coming at you. You have to be very beta and unstable to be a Nazi in public. Just insult them and goad them into coming at you first.
That's the reason I think the riot against Milo HOweverthefuckyouspellhisname was stupid. Dude is a troll in real life. His entire bit is intended to get you pissed off at him. Rioting is exactly what he wants. Ignore the mother fucker. Put on a concert at the exact same time as he's supposed to speak in a different part of campus. Let him talk to the two or three students who actually agree with him. I guarantee you that ignoring him will piss him off way more than anything else you could do to him.
Yeah that shit was dumb. Just ignore him and others like him. His whole schtick is "wow, look at me, I'm a gay alt right guy, I'm sassy and say what I want". Just leave him be.
I read it was the university. They were committed to having the event to support free speech and expected protests but had to cancel when they couldn't guarantee anyone's safety.
Bullshit. Fuck him, and fuck everything he stands for. Burn that shit down. Ignoring the problem is not going to make it go away.
In the aftermath of the shutdown of far right celebrity Milo Yiannapoulos at UC Berkeley, there’s been much debate among progressives and leftists about the use of militant tactics against the right. Some of the questions under contention are whether militant tactics bring down repression on the most vulnerable, and whether free speech—even for fascists—is sacrosanct. Undocumented UC Berkeley student Juan Prieto talks about why he supported the shutdown. And Kieran discusses the history of the group Anti-Racist Action and makes the case for mass militant organizing and action. https://kpfa.org/episode/against-the-grain-february-14-2017/
If someone starting murdering Nazi's around the country I'd root for them the same way I rooted for Oliver Queen in Season 1 of Arrow.
No, we lost. Right now we're just watching the team that beat us get shut out 56-0 the following week.
I think it's over at this point - how long it takes is up for debate but there ain't no stopping this train.
I voted straight blue down ballot for the first time ever. Voting against Johnny Isaakson was my protest vote over the performance of the obstructionist Senate.
Yeah, Trump was way ahead of GOP senate candidates in states like Missouri but was a little bit behind in states like Georgia and Arizona. In Arizona, Trump was +3 but McCain won by 13 which was kinda disappointing because the Democrats nominated a very legit candidate there and still lost pretty badly. I haven't looked too closely at the Georgia senate race, but it was about the same as Arizona. Basically what happened was a lot of suburbanites voting for Clinton but downballot still voted GOP. Most of the districts at the top of this chart are in the Houston, Dallas, and Atlanta suburbs. Clinton overperformed but the Republicans that represent these districts still won re-election pretty easily. Obviously I'm not against Romney voters voting D but I just don't see most of them turning into reliable Democratic voters.
What sucks is having to root for a team 500 miles from my hometown because it's the closest team close to me. They routinely get their ass beaten because they have bad leadership and the owner won't sink any money into the team.
Draining the swamp update: Last week, I mentioned that Trump's acting head of the SEC had initiated efforts to repeal rules requiring CEO pay disclosure. This makes sense, because if we're going to allow companies to sell their stock on public securities markets, we certainly do not want the public to know too much about the financial condition of the companies they are buying. Yesterday, Trump signed his very first bill into a law. Technically, a bill waiving civilian requirements to appoint Mattis as Defense Secretary was his first, but yesterday was the first substantive legislation passed both chambers in Congress. It is now legal for US companies in the oil, gas, and mining industries to make direct payments to foreign governments without disclosing those payments to shareholders or the SEC. Make America Bribe Again. Up next week, a bill to allow companies who enter contracts with the US to self certify that they comply with US labor laws (seriously, this has been proposed). Drain the swamp. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wa...d93e90-f2cd-11e6-b9c9-e83fce42fb61_story.html
Nor does rioting. I promise ignoring that piece of shit is the right approach. It's the exact way everyone in deals with trolls in the trump thread.
Yeah, that works really well in here and the Trump thread. :eyeroll: that must be why pages go by with people going back and forth with tmbrules, dbd, farva, powe, etc.
That's because people engage them all the time. How do people deal with the Westboro baptist church? Those guys have been doing milo's schtick for years.
Yet the plan of action should be the exact same. I promise you if you ask that pos which was his most successful speaking gig he'd say Berkeley. Why do people understand this on the internet but not real life? I mean either kill the guy or ignore him. Don't break a bunch of shit as if that's gonna intimidate him into shutting up. It's not gonna happen.
Eh, I think way more people at this time are aware of the fact that this alt right shit isn't funny compared to a year ago. These people are pussies and intimidating them with threats of violence works.
Yup. I know he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way... but he was absolutely one of my favorite posters on the site.
Should have clarified, like getting harassed or just the normal dipshits he was frustrated with in threads? That sucks either way.
I think Richard Spencer has an actual ethos and wants to be taken seriously. He's a different animal. And yeah he's certainly a little bitch boy. Milo is strictly a troll. He uses the guise of "alternative views" but that dude just likes getting people pissed off. You aren't gonna intimidate him by breaking shit because his entire intention is to get you pissed. There's no deeper meaning to his schtick even if he acts like there is. Guilty.
