Latest tweet.
I know. Not same airlines and probably different circumstances as they probably did go to space. But didn't want to start a new thread
MORE: EgyptAir Flight MS804 was 80 miles from Egyptian airspace when it disappeared from radar, according to airline abcn.ws/27C1Aei
Does this log mean anything or is this just an generic estimate of a flight? http://www.flightstats.com/go/Fligh...?id=714987535&airlineCode=MS&flightNumber=804
Hard to imagine a plane can disappear in a single radar sweep 37,000 up while at cruise altitude and velocity. Flying in favorable weather and with no distress call as well. Only some 9% of all commercial aviation accidents from 1959-2012 have occurred at cruising altitude. http://www.boeing.com/resources/boeingdotcom/company/about_bca/pdf/statsum.pdf
I flew New York to LA a week ago. This really makes you stop and think about how someone can misread 59 and come up with 530.
**Egypt Air Flight 804 Missing from Paris to Cairo.** [Flight Aware path](http://flightaware.com/live/flight/MSR804) * [Airbus A320](http://www.airbus.com/aircraftfamilies/passengeraircraft/a320family/a320/) * ~~59 Passengers on board~~ 56 passengers - 53 adults 2 infants 1 child * 10 Crew members - 2 cockpit crew 5 cabin crew and 3 security crew(?) Cairo Int airport, can't disclose any information at the time. Air plane is missing, supposed to have landed about an hour and a half ago. **Edit:** [Flight Aware graph log](http://flightaware.com/live/flight/MSR804/history/20160518/2045Z/LFPG/HECA/tracklog), look at flight time **Wed 08:32:01 PM**, thats when the pings stopped, looks like something bad happened in flight @ 37,000ft. RIP **Edit 2:** [Current weather near the area the flight lost contact, looks clear :/](http://i.imgur.com/m4xNIz3.jpg) **Edit 3:** [Search and rescue are currently being deployed to the area where they last had contact.](https://twitter.com/EGYPTAIR/status/733134478743371777) use google translate **Edit 4:** [EGYPTAIR A320 was at a height of 37.000ft, and disappeared after entering the Egyptian airspace with 10 miles.](https://twitter.com/EGYPTAIR/status/733140379034386433) **Edit 5:** Look like its about ~~100 nautical miles~~ [~200 miles from the shores of Cairo](http://i.imgur.com/cU1GTG4.png), I'd estimate S&R planes should take about an hour or so to arrive (currently posted at 10:50pm CT, 5:50am Cairo time.) **Edit 6:** Egyptian navy, said to be deployed to area of last contact. **Edit 7:** [Lotta boat activity in the area](http://i.imgur.com/XYvC5gI.jpg) **Edit** Boat tracking times look to vary wildly, so that's not really the activity there currently. **Edit 8:** No hazardous material known to be on the flight. **Edit 9:** Egypt S&R apparently are in the area of last contact, right near the airspace border between Cairo Egypt and some other country, didn't catch it in time **Edit 10:** Captain had 6,000 flying hours, co-pilot had 4,000 flying hours **Edit 11:** 66 total souls: (56 passengers - 53 adults 2 infants 1 child) (10 crew - 2 cockpit crew 5 cabin crew and 3 security crew(?) **Edit 12:** No known distress call made to any ATC.(http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...o-disappears-from-radar/#update-20160519-0522)
its considered average according to the aviation specialist on CNN 3 security officers on a single flight is considered high/slightly abnormal this is very interesting
So let's recap what we know. Plane disappears from radar at 37000 feet. No distress call Plane didn't show up in Cairo when it should have This is happening in the middle east Guys, it's terrorism.
Thread got merged. Can we not do that? At least not yet. This EgyptAir crash/disappearance should still be its own thread for now.
I don't think that would have helped. Greek officials investigating reports from Greek island residents that they saw a ball of fire in the sky #EgyptAir #MS804
Jane Wardell @TheJaneWardell Egyptian officials believe missing EgyptAir plane #MS804 crashed into sea http://in.mobile.reuters.com/article/idINKCN0YA0F3?irpc=932 …
we're really going to merge threads? TMB - home of team boards and "official plane crash" threads. fucking christ.
This. Just because you guys have these new mod powers doesn't mean you have to look for ways to use them. Over-modding.
