i'm kind of ok with this even though there's nothing to suggest we won't totally fuck everything up. I like goff, but our offense is such a wasteland right now that we really do need all the help we can get our hands on. this seems like a good tank year, but is there a qb at the top of next year's draft that's better than goff/wentz? honestly asking because i don't know. I see watson's name pop up a lot and I love him as a college qb, but I don't really know what his nfl stock looks like.
Watson is really fucking good. Not many other QB's stick out but obviously that could change. You're putting yourself at risk if whoever is #1 next year needs a QB because at this rate he'll probably be untouchable regardless of our amount of assets. People seem to like Chad Kelly from Ole Miss but he's got Manziel like character concerns and Kaaya from Miami but I don't really see it.
I would definitely be happy if we took Shaq Lawson at 8. He's super disruptive and we need edge rushers badly. My opinion of solid picks at 8 (assuming Goff/Wentz/Bosa/Ramsey are all gone at that point): Elliot - Crowell is not the answer. Hue loves 2-back systems, Elliot and Duke with Crowell as backup/goalline back would give us a pretty studly lineup. Not our most pressing need though. Shaq Lawson - see above. Buckner - freak. dunno if he'll be there at 8. Myles Jack - a little scared of the info about his knee, but if he gets healthy, watch out. Worst picks at 8: Paxton Lynch - kill me now. Ronnie Stanley - I'd rather drop down a few picks and get Jack Conklin. Vernon Hargreaves - just a gut feeling here, but I'm not sold. I'm probably just scarred from the Justin Gilbert picks a few years ago. don't listen to me though, because I'm the type of guy who would take 12 defensive players with all 12 of our draft picks.
Where do we come out on Jaylon Smith? I think if he's there with our 2nd third round pick you have to take him.
Corch when the Browns take Connor Cook tomorrow, are you going to turn off your phone entirely or just block my number?
Saw a report this morning that he is still projected to go early 2nd round. If he's still around in the 3rd, you absolutely have to take him.
I'd be fine with Tunsil or Stanley. I don't want any other OL or QB's at that spot. My preference in order would be Ramsey (no chance), Elliot, Bosa, Buckner, Jack, Tunsil, Stanley.
Just give me one of these. Bosa Jack Treadwell Buckner Elliott If you have to trade down take any of the top wr, Shaq Lawson, or Darron Lee
So I just saw Zegura's and Co.'s mocks on CB.com, and I think I would love this scenario: Browns trade down with Miami so they can take Zeke from 8 to 13. At 13 they trade down with NY so they can take Lynch from 13 to 20. At 20 they take their top WR (Doctson, Fuller, Treadwell) and pick up a ton of picks in the process. At 32 they take Vonn Bell or Ragland.
I know we're homering it up a bit in this thread, but I think Fuller can give us a great vertical threat similar to what we lost with Benjamin and has the chance to develop into a really good receiver in this league. If we can drop down into the back half of the first round, pick up another second rounder to shore up the RT situation while getting another pick next year, and use #32 on a front 7 player, that's a pretty good draft.
Any trade down from 8 starts with getting your 2nd this year. To go past 15, I want your first next year too
You guys are killing me. Most likely we'll do the stupidest fucking thing possible. It may not look like it at that moment, but it will end up that way. Please lower your expectations to the level of us taking Paxton Lynch. Thanks
Stupidest thing possible IMO is holding at 8 and taking Concklin from MSU then trading up from 32 to take Lynch, giving up picks next year and this year. So fully expecting this to happen.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Browns trade down from 32 with the break. If it was a small drop I would be okay with that, think we could get a nice return
Huh? Last I heard he had nerve damage and wasn't able to control the front of his right foot. He may never play football again...
Adam Schefter– Verified account @AdamSchefter One NFL head coach even predicted this morning that Notre Dame LB Jaylon Smith could go "at the end of (round) 1, maybe round 2." 6:17 AM - 27 Apr 2016
I mean, I didn't doubt that you saw a report. I just think the reports on his nerve damage are so negative that nobody in their right minds would waste a 1st or 2nd rounder on him.
Dude has a drop foot, they expect the nerve to heal, but you never know. I doubt anyone touches him until day 3
I'd have the world's largest and hardest boner if they traded back to 13 or 15 got Treadwell and another 2nd and then took Doctson/Thomas/Coleman at 32
Let's keep this thread positive - I'll start. If we do well in this draft and get 2-3 solid starters, do well in next year's free agency and get 2-3 more solid starters, we may actually be favored in a game in 2017. Something to build on.
Really like what we did tonight. Coleman is going to be a really good player and we added another 2nd rounder for next year, and yet another third this year. I'd bet we trade one of our 3 third rounders for another second next year tomorrow. But if the whole point of accumulating a shit ton of picks is to get a ton of lottery tickets, don't we have to take Myles Jack tomorrow? It's a second round pick and potential huge jackpot for a guy who everyone still had top 15 despite the health issues. Sure, he can never be the player he once could be, but the risk adjusted bet could play well into our favor. We have 6 ADDITIONAL picks in the top 100 tomorrow so can fill plenty of other holes elsewhere while taking a chance on Jack.
A+ on the trade from 8 to 15 and picking up a third and a 2nd in 2017 and Tampa only got a 4th for the very next pick. B on taking Coleman. I really like him but you have to continue to add play makers around him. Don't trade down anymore, you have a ton of assets, cash in. I'd like to see them trade two of the 3's tomorrow to get back into the 2nd. @32 I want... Myles Jack Michael Thomas Vonn Bell Mackensie Alexander Jarron Reed Hunter Henry Noah Spence Kevin Dodd
Tampa also wasn't dropping as far but I did not expect to get as much as we did. Really liked the move. I wanted Treadwell more but plenty happy with Coleman. Analytics guys seems to like him so guess it makes sense that Sashi does also
If Stanley fell to 8 I would've been fine with OT. Tunsil could still be fantastic but with Josh Gordon being out I wouldn't be thrilled to draft him. Much prefer the trade down and taking a WR
Dustin FoxVerified account@DustinFox37 I asked Corey Coleman about his size. His response was classic. “If size mattered elephants would be the king of the jungle” #Browns I already love him.
Bruce Feldman retweeted that and added that he heard many similar stories from the combine when coaches asked him about his size
Ultimately we traded Carson Wentz, 2017 4th, and a 6th rounder for Corey Coleman, a first, two seconds, two thirds, and a 4th.
i'm fine with coleman. my only reservation is that he's coming from baylor's offense which is pretty much easy mode for qbs/wrs. i am glad we finally addressed wr after multiple drafts where we inexplicably ignored it
