I think we should have a vigil for Eddie Munson. He's definitely in the running for one of the best characters in the show. I'm going to get a guitar pick necklace.
Spoiler "As Max hides in her memory of the Snow Ball, Vecna finds her but is stopped by Eleven. In the ensuing battle, Vecna overwhelms Eleven and reveals to her that he has controlled the Upside Down ever since she sent him there; it was he who shaped the shadow creature into the form of the Mindflayer and began looking for a way to return, using the Mindflayer's physical form to steal Elevens power to create portals." (1) Shadow creature was already in the upside down. (2) Vecna formed it into the physical form of the mind flayer. What I don't understand is how did the mindflayer "steal" Eleven's power to create portals? Is that something that happened in season 3 and I just forget about it? Definitely up for debate whether the shadow creature/mind flayer or Vecna is in control of things and the apex predator. Could be a fluid situation.
Spoiler I thought the Russian story line was the weakest part of season 4 or at least made the least sense and wasn't explained well enough. I still thought that story line was very entertaining don't get me wrong. But killing the demogorgons and dogs didn't really do that much to weaken Vecna, they went through a whole lot of trouble to accomplish something very minor compared to what the other characters were doing to fight Vecna. What the hell was that particle cloud from the upside down and what happened with it? I've seen a theory that it was a fragment of the mind flayer. When they broke back into the prison didn't that dying guard say that the particle/cloud went into the creatures in the tanks and bring them to life?
Spoiler The “mind flayer” is the cloud of particles that controls the upside down. As far as who is in real control I’d say the mind flayer because if it’s destroyed then Vecna loses the hive mind, but if Vecna is destroyed the mind flayer just stays in the upside down the same as it was. I think they’ll have to beat both of them for good.Dustin mentions that Vecna is like the 5 star general for the mind flayer which is based on D&D. Vecna can open portals like El so Vecna was the one opening the portals from inside the upside down so the mind flayer could get to the other side in the first 3 seasons. Without Vecna then essentially the mind flayer would be stuck in the upside down forever as long as we don’t create a portal on our side, hence Vecna works for the mind flayer.
Spoiler It’s the particles that make up the mind flayer/upside down and went into the suspended animated ones and woke them up essentially
Spoiler How did "the Mindflayer's physical form steal Eleven's powers to create portals"? I thought Vecna was just able to use telekinesis to create portals. Vecna does say at some point that Eleven basically created him but I thought he was referring to the fact that he wouldn't be who he is today but/for Eleven sending him to the upside down where he linked up with the mindflayer.
Spoiler In earlier seasons, Vecna relied completely upon existing portals to act in Hawkins. Vecna didn't attack Hawkins teens in earlier seasonsof Stranger Things because he couldn't — he had no ability to open his own portals. The only person shown to have this ability in the series is Eleven and the reveal that One takes the power of anything he consumes is key to understanding his plan in seasons 3 and 4 of Stranger Things. After Eleven closed the big portal to the Upside Down in season 2, Vecna only had a slight lingering connection to the real world through the Mind Flayer. He employed this connection to get close enough to Eleven to get a piece of her, something he was finally able to achieve in season 3, episode 7, "The Bite." The flesh monster created with the Mind Flayer's powers latches onto Eleven's leg and leaves a piece of itself inside of her. After treating the wound, Eleven's cast-off blood was shown to react to Flayed Billy's presence, suggesting the sought-after connection has been established, meaning Vecna can open his own portals.
I just realized Vecna was the one who kidnapped Will. Costume is different but same claw and everything. It popped up on my feed because I look at so much stranger things stuff. I didn’t just up and realize that
Had started a rewatch the other day and was thinking that definitely didn't look like the demogorgans shadow.
Also explains him singing the Clash to himself and hiding and then him reaching out when Jonathan plays it now that we know what music does.
Thought this season was really enjoyable, and was expecting to be let down. The plot point that kind of fell flat to me a bit was Vecna's choices for his victims. That seemed super weak, especially the one with Nancy. Did I miss something there?
I think it was just troubled teens who were dealing with some sort of trauma. I believe the basketball player was the only one whose backstory wasn't really explored. Chrissy was using drugs and seeing the school counselor about something. The other kid was dealing with a car accident he was involved in. And then Max was going through all the shit with Billy. I don't think Nancy was a victim; more of a messenger.
It was something about kids that felt self doubt and guilty conscience. He could enter in and exploit those negative feelings. The newspaper kid was something to do with a car wreck I think.
Gaydar readings on Will were correct https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/stranger-things-noah-schnapp-will-byers-gay-doja-cat-1235317378/
Well I thought it was either going to be funny or just completely fall on its face. Looks like it was the latter. You win some and you lose some. I'll take a few laps. Still not as bad as those that were trying to say this season sucked.
I thought he was choosing kids who had experienced trauma and were suffering from it. In my opinion it was a well done euphemism on how isolating and destructive depression and the self loathing that comes with it can be.
Juuuuust caught up. Watched season 1, strangely didn’t care that much for it. started up again and binged 2-4. What a ride!
Apparently this originated on TikTok. I don't do TikTok so I did not know of its existence until my teenage niece sent it to me. Now I can't get it out of my head (the first one).
