Anyone ever explore the depths of the deep web? I just downloaded the tor add on to firefox and have lurked from sites off the hidden wiki site. What really lies in this abyss of information? Any good sites people frequent with the .onion extension?
tor has a ton of extremely inactive messageboards that dont have any information the rest is child porn, extreme fetish porn and invite-only sites not too terribly interesting
I mean, what entails the "deep web?" Is it stuff that can not be found using a normal url or is it just stuff that is on the web but there aren't readily available links? I upload invoices to my company's website and never make a page or a link to the document from the website, but I'll send the direct link to the customer. The only way you could find that page is if I gave you the direct link. Does this count as "deep web" since it's not readily available? If so, I'd guess that the majority of those 7,500 terabytes are just waste and stuff that has been buried in websites since no one looks at them.
I think its both really. They use a different extension of .onion so that hides them unless you have the tor network browser or whatever enabled. They also choose really obscure url so that they definitely aren't found ofter. It's also a bunch of dead or shut down websites from what I've seen.
This is really interesting to me, but I don't have the time, energy, or skill to dig into it. So, Alien, feel free to post any cool shit you may stumble across.
Tor is just a way to stay anonymous. It's not really deep web. Deep web is basically the internet that is not indexed by search engines. Not apart of the visible web.
Don't you need Tor in order to see the .onion websites? So is the only way to see the deep web to use one of those other search engines?
Which is why it seems to me that 95% of that is just either content that is so old that the links to those pages were bumped from the hosting website or stuff that people upload intending for only certain people to see it. That could be nasty ass terrible porn or other smut, but a lot of times I bet it's just business stuff.
I always wondered where those illegal websites where. I'm a technological retard so I had no idea the deep web existed.
I have always been somewhat paranoid about someone looking back through the webcam on my laptop, reading this did not help.
Wait, talking about the googlehacks videos on youtube now? Generally Google's idiot-proofed itself against people finding the "deep web" sites in searches, esp. since they know they'd get blasted for child porn-related stuff and don't want to see it themselves. Not counting that crap, a search engine that found sites that had noindex types of tags in them could pull up interesting stuff.
hahaha cant say that i have, although the seller of said peniscock seems to have great communication so it may be time could you imagine if your bank called you asking about a strange payment made on it and you explaining it to them it was just a purchase of some solid peniscock and not to worry
