One of the things I hated was how GRRM split-up all the characters in books 4 and 5. Having an entire book without Tyrion was just stupid and I honestly think it was a horrible decision. I don't know anyone that liked it. So I found this: http://www.sffchronicles.co.uk/foru...d-chronologically-by-chapter.html#post1516518
Been a a year and 4 days since ADWD was finally published. Time to reread so I'll be doing a joint reread using this
So..... ASOIAF Vets- For a first time reader of those, Do you recommend this method, or just read them as is?
There is something to reading books as the author intended. That being said, I'd read them like this. As is, each books deals only with one area. So, some of your favorite characters will not show up at all in a 1000+ page book. (I don't want to say who or who doesn't appear, what with spoilers and all). I'll say this, I wish I had read them like posted above the first time. You still get the story and all.
I'm going to read it in order right now. Sucks not to have certain characters, but OTOH, when I get to DWD it'll be awesome because they'll all be back. Will probably read it like this next summer when I do a re-read of the series.
I think first time through you should read AFFC by first. there are so many new characters, give yourself a chance to get to know them.
I'm not going to look and see if it matches up with the order in the OP's link but this just popped up on my newsfeed, retweeted by Tower of the Hand
i am rereading it right now by the order in op. don't like how after all of the affc chapters it still skips around in the adwd chapters. just glancing at it i like blackfish's order
Would love if someone more knowledgable in the ways of ebooks was able to combine the two books together in one file so I wouldn't have to jump back and forth.
I have just 3 chapters left of ASOS and will be finishing it today. Final verdict - should I realy AFFC and ADWD combined or separate. TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!!!!!
