    Republican Security Council
James Antle: The House today passed the official Republican budget offered by Paul Ryan by a 228 to 191 vote. The ten Republicans who voted no mostly opposed it from the right. This followed a 414 to 0 rejection of President Obama's budget and a 382-38 rejection of a bipartisan plan based loosely on the Simpson-Bowles recommendations.
The House Democrats offered their version of a budget, which was defeated by 262 to 163. The Republican Study Committee budget failed 285 to 136. The Congressional Black Caucus' alternative was voted down 314 to 107. The Congressional Progressive Caucus budget proposal got just 78 votes to 346 nays.

This has all the various budget votes in it from today.

No he claims to be a Romney supporter who thinks Santorum has a few good idea's.

Here's the thing with Santorum, if he stayed off the sex stuff (gay and straight) he wouldn't be offensive to most people. He actually does care more about the manufacturing industry than any candidate I've heard in forever. I mean he's a goof, but he's not an unlikeable guy until you get to the bedroom issues. Unfortunately he's allowed his career to be defined by gays and birth control pills which makes him at least politically unfit to be the nominee.
To fuck with Dems though if Romney made him HHS Secretary I'd laugh my balls off.

Ok, lets come up with Mitt Romney's all time troll Cabinet (and now other positions):

Newt head of the Education Dept (I actually do want to see this)
    Santorum - HHS
John Bolton - Sec of State
    Rick Perry - Energy Sec
    Joe Arpaio - Homeland Security
Dick Cheney and his beautiful new heart - Sec of Defense (Round II)
    Ron Paul - Treasury Sec
    Donald Sterling - HUD
    ....

    Edit:

    Herman Cain - EEOC

    Sarah Palin - Interior Sec

    Bill O'Reilly - Press Secretary

Scott Walker - Sec of Labor

I remember it being around $2.15 or so in the Chicago burbs. Now we're at $4.33.

Which fucking means that somewhere, it's $3.65 just to offset our prices (highest in the nation).

So now everyone is attacking Romney because the beach house renovation in his CA home is going to have a car elevator? More power to him.
  34. I think it's more that he's completely out of touch with the average American, and him talking about "cheesy grits" and whatever else can be perceived as insulting as fuck. I don't have any problem in principle with him being rich; he took advantage of every avenue open to him (just don't tell me that he was given nothing or that he can relate to the average small business owner ).

But if the attacks really are because he's rich, it's a pretty weird phenomenon. Think about who the most revered heroes in our culture are, and they're all rich. From Batman to Warren Buffet. Look up any "most admired American," or whatever, list and I'll bet you won't find Mother Jones on it.

Artoo Hey guys! Thanks for eating all the macaroni!

Why is it that every election Republicans always start up with the same "stock up now, if the Dems are elected they are going to take your guns"? Who has tried to take your guns over the years? How is this still a thing? It hasn't come true once, how can Repubs still trot it out every election?

Clinton made gun control a huge issue and liberals were arguing against a personal right to own weapons in Heller. I'll grant you Obama hasn't done much about it, but the stereotype exists for a reason.
  47. good joke, rich people don't get diseases like that
  48. One issue that I'm completely "conservative" on in many respects is gun control. Now, if we could start from scratch as of this moment, my position would be much different, but the population of the United States is armed to the teeth, and that isn't changing anytime soon. Normal people don't just bust a cap in people's asses for no reason because (shocker) they're normal people. I don't own a gun, I wasn't raised in a household with firearms, and I honestly don't know if I ever will own one, but the fact of the matter is that someone intent on committing a crime probably isn't going to hamper himself by observing some gun control law. Now, true military assault rifles, the general population shouldn't have a right to own those weapons, but I don't think very many normal people are going to argue that they should have that right. :twocents:

    /tweet, soapbox, etc.
  49. Moxin24

    Moxin24 A Basketball School Since 2007

Most people outside of the NRA agree on the assault weapons. The only argument for them is that part of the rationale for the 2nd Amendment was a check on the government's military power. A government is less likely to oppress an armed citizenry. Obviously in today's day and age my shotgun is no match for whatever the 82nd Airborne is packing so assault weapons should be legal to "level the playing field" if you will.

Now I think that's impractical. We have to live with the fact that we allowed (and rightly so IMO) the build up of the most powerful military in the world and if they turn on us we're just fucked.

The anti-gun left is like the anti-death penalty left and hopefully soon the anti-gay marriage right, they are minorities in their own party. Now I'm 100% sure if given the opportunity Obama would like to dramatically curtail gun rights, but that's not going to happen in the next five years.
