Was listening to McGuire on montreal radio. The host said the rumor is the Habs are hot and horny for Huberdeau and were willing to move their top pick for him. I thought well they would need to add. McGuire says what a steal...for Florida! I thought da fuck?? He was serious. He said the Habs pick, possibly a top 4 is worth more than Huberdeau. To make matters worse he said IF Montreal were to make that move straight up Habs fans would regret that move MORE than the Gomez one.

He was the most talented player in camp in the pre season but was sent back to juniors because the panthers new philosophy is to wait until these young guys turn 19 before playing in the NHL. The fact that he thought a top 4 pick was more value than a guy whose having an outstanding season is laughable.

They said the same thing about how the Panthers should have drafted Skinner or Fowler last year instead of Gudbranson. It goes back to the player playing one more year of Juniors instead of jumping straight to the NHL. Both Guds last year And Hubredeau this year, made the team during TC, but Tallon wanted both of them to get one more year of seasoning before joining the team. Also delayed their entry level contracts during 2 seasons where Tallon didnt expect the team to compete (this year has been a surprise to everyone inside and out of the organization). While it is obviously debatable if Guds was the best pick, the panthers are thrilled with what they have in Gudbranson and I doubt they would do anything differently

Gudbranson will be a top 4 dman for 15 years. Sort of reminds me of Chris Phillips but more physical. Quality reliable player with leadership and character. Not a ton of offense, but the type of guy elite teams need to play 25 minutes.

Exactly. He's not much of an offensive force but he has enough to be on the 2nd PP as the spot up slap shot specialist.

I remember him saying he thought the Oilers should've picked Larsson. He said that it was not a bad pick to get Nugent-Hopkins but Larsson would've made them a playoff team right away.......tells you everything you need to know right there. I think McGuire sometimes just hit on some players and he tries to make them notice him by praising them wwwwaaaaayyyyyy too much. If i was Larsson, i would watch my backside when he is around.

He has always said he thought Larsson was the best player in the draft. I think he will be a gooder but not a class above. Of course he also said Pascale Leclaire was going to be a fantastic goaler for the Sens, and that Brian Elliot was junk.
