You can go to orangeburg and do it pretty cheap. I had a bunch of friends do it in hs. I think your first time is like a hundred something but then its like 60 or 70 after that
for those that have parked in the daily lot at the airport, are you always shuttled from the lot by the cool-ass granny bus driver? last few times i've parked there she's driven me, fucking hilarious woman, spends the whole bus ride bitching about management and how she's gonna have to retire to Wal-Mart soon. thick southern accent and basically talks to herself for a few minutes until all the passengers start cracking up. always make me feel a little better heading in to a flight. someone on here has got to know who i'm talking about ...
i'm telling you, probably the last five times i've flown out of Douglas she's driven me. idk how i always end up with her, she's got some great rants though, would be a solid MBer
The black lady who checks id going through security almost every morning is great. The line may be backed up to the drive, but she's still chatting up a storm.
yes!! this lady makes my day every time. i hate flying, always feel warm and fuzzy though leaving the bus ...
I landed the ticket sales job with the Bobcats last week and I start on the 18th. Where should I look to live in the city? Just arrived today and going to be up here for a few days to scope things out and hopefully find a place by the weekend. I'm going to be working at the arena and was thinking maybe somewhere in South Charlotte by the light rail since it ends pretty much at the arena but I am lost in this city. I am not opposed to a house with roommates for a few months until i get things figured out but i'm really looking for an apartment that has a fairly easy commute to downtown. Any help appreciated.
congrats dude, i worked there in '06. get ready to hit those phones son. in terms of South Charlotte how far do you want to be from Uptown? just a couple miles? i would start by looking in the SouthEnd neighborhood, good 'hood for young professionals, right on the light rail which you could probably take to work. you could go further out a long the rail but i've always liked being close to Uptown. i wouldn't say living on the rail is a necessity. SouthPark & Dilworth are some other nice neighborhoods southside, but a little more family oriented. may not be able to take the rail to work but car commute would on be 10 min or so. if you live in SouthPark try to live near Montford Ct, good strip of bars and restaurants there, will be more young people ... personally i like NoDa & Plaza-Midwood the best. i live in NoDa now and it's my favorite area. great hood if you're in to music, pretty vibrant scene here. kind of the artsy/hipster crowd though, but not like NYC or anything. few good places to grab cheap beer and a few very good restaurants (Cabo Fish Taco ) also i've always used craigslist to find rentals here, just search one of those neighborhoods with your price range and start from there. Charlotte is somewhat small and all these spots are in a 6 mile radius maybe ...
I have friends who live at Circle Southend who ride the light rail into the city for work and they like it. The apartment is pretty new and the places are nice (i've only been to 2 apartments, the pool, and other places in it). So i'd say take a look at that to get a feel if that's your vibe. I don't know what your price range is, but there's plenty of apartments available in South Charlotte that will be to your liking. I rent through MECA properties, so take a look at what they have available, they're good people. I think a few threads have been done on Charlotte, so give em a read and if you have further questions, i'm sure people on here can help.
IF Im you I'd move to NoDa...but I really dont know about real estate value and affordability in South Charlotte
tellin y'all NoDa is bumpin these days. huge crowds out every weekend this summer. a few new bars opened up as well, so there's more to do than Solstice/Sanctuary/Revolution now. i'm saving up and hoping to buy in the area in a year or two, tons of for sale signs ...
ATL's thread is making me jealous ... plus we had one going before 2.0 ... i live in NoDa, where are y'all staying these days?
when people say NoDa. Just cracks me up for some reason. And originally from Concord, so close to Charlotte. ATL thread is doin work.
this will get going soon i'm sure, enough Charlotte guys on here by the way i am still recovering from the Mystikal show last Friday. i don't remember too much of it, just smoking a blunt with some black chicks on 36th st in front of Sanctuary. kind of a silly thing to do but it worked out. Mystikal didn't come on till 1 am and by that time i was 4 or 5 drinks deep of the incredible hulk
Glad our little sister to the North is following suit. I've on been to Charlotte once. Went to a wedding at some lake, but stayed downtown & went out near there. Some bar district that seemed pretty live. Had fun. Need to go back and visit.
I really don't know/remember. I think I stayed in the Sheraton downtown. So if it is near that. It was EpiCenter. It was a nice Sheraton.
I will be moving up this sumer to do an internship. I'll be working in Ballantyne. What are some reasonable places to live in that area?
there's shit going on there but much better places to hang elsewhere IMO. just visiting though good place to club it up i never really go that far South in Charlotte
Just posting in here because Charlotte is one of my favorite cities and a possible relocation site when I plan to move next year.
Been to Charlotte a few times. Heading up Wednesday to take my little cousin to the Lego Store. I might be more excited than he is.
Re: Official Charlotte thread Will be there two weeks from today. Always love coming to Charlotte. Good food, good people.
Re: Official Charlotte thread Do people really go to the Epicenter to drink and rage or is that more for people who are just visiting?
My brother lives in Ballantyne and his place is really nice. No idea what it's called or how much it costs, though.
Re: Official Charlotte thread Anybody that likes chili really needs to try this place. Looks like a hole in the wall but their chili is the best I've ever had. Excellent atmosphere as well. http://www.lupiescafe.com/start.html

Moving to Charlotte to start my residency at CMC. Looking to move into dilworth. MP or Elizabeth. Any great pizza places around? Also do locals go to the epicentere or is that just for out of towners?
Re: Official Charlotte thread My sister lives on Independce BLVD in Charlotte. Last time I went, we went to Whiskey River (Dale Jr's bar). It was a good time.
This thread will get a MLB team to talk about some day, and hey it's a growing city, could surpass Atlanta in a few years. You never know!
I hope not. It's a great size, clean, and fun without the ridiculous thuggery or irritating pretentiousness.
I'm a big fan of Denato's. It's not "great" pizza by any means, but it's fast, relatively cheap and open very late. Brixx is pretty good wood-fired pizza.
