not saying they shouldn't celebrate it, but I find myself rolling my eyes at a lot of the Sabres promotional stuff regarding Jeff Skinner's 1000th game. Team is missing the playoffs for the 14th straight year and is celebrating a player who, although a prolific scorer, has never made the playoffs in his career.
It's one of those things you have to do no matter what. 1k games in the NHL is a milestone that players put a TON of value in. So if you don't celebrate it, you look bad around the league.
Skinner has played 26 games in Madison Square Garden. His teams are 4-18-4 in those games. That’s legitimately difficult to find in the NHL.
for sure. just a sad franchise celebrating a pretty good player who they haven't done enough for to get him to where every NHLer wants to be. oh well, maybe next year
The Caps announcers are having a ball with the trivia question: Which player has the most NHL games played and shares a last name with a Simpsons character (Beninati said "it's not Skinner and it's probably not Nahasapeemapetilon")
I'll keep posting by myself, I don't care. Look at these Panther thugs finally getting called for their bullshit. This was three stacked 5-on-3 penalties
Nah, we will probably fuck y’all up. Can’t help but win a few games to meaninglessly move up the standings
Chicago knows how to tank, let the Islanders score two unanswered in the 3rd to lose 2-1 in regulation.
The half rebuild/half competing while being in decent position for a playoff spot is a mindfuck, they were absolute trash tonight Root for them every night but not sure I wanna see them in the playoffs.
Ottawa was about to lose thanks to a puck clearance down 2-1 so Brady started a fight to get the clock to stop and it worked
I think an ejection is enough. Ejection may have been too much. If it was just a 2 or 5 for boarding I would be okay. Susy too much.
The metro is a fascinating division. Flyers 76GP 83 PTS -17 Goal diff Caps 74GP 82 PTS -35 Goal diff Islanders 75GP 81 PTS -27 Goal diff Penguins 75GP 79 PTS +1 Goal diff
benefit of playing in a division that goes 4 teams deep compared to the metro which has the Rangers, Hurricanes and then a bucket of yuck.
That the sabres can have a goal differential of zero and be nowehere near the playoffs while the metro has 4 mediocre teams on the cusp of a playoff spot. playing in a weak division has its benefits.
I’ve been resting my thumbs waiting for the playoffs but I had to make a return to the thread to laugh at how dumb line brawls are. I still watched though.
It looked like Igor had his blocker off during the brawl but might have just been picking a stick up or something. They showed him for a split second.
Rempe actually sucks at fighting. He’s just massive so he wins occasionally and not very good so that’s literally his only purpose on the team
He’s actually a really good forechecker and net front presence. I understand he’s become known for fighting, but the Rangers are actually worse off when he does it. And yes he’s not a good fighter. He doesn’t defend himself at all.
