re: Lux if he really is a drag on the team, you best believe that he will be on the trading block and the front office will look for a defensive infielder who makes contact more reliably. also interested to see if Vargas gets another chance this year
I have been internally hoping a team loves his upside and will send us a crafty veteran infielder near the end of their deal.
you should root for the Brewers to tank. Adames is on a 1 year, 12.5 million dollar deal. UFA next year
The deal makes so much sense. Obviously doesn’t mean shit but Lux happens to be from Kenosha, WI lol. Just 40 miles from Milwaukee.
Defense + Power... I can deal with your swing and miss. Lux's injury probably neutralized a bit of his speed, which also hurts.
thank god Barnes and Rojas are batting 8 and 9 today. finally get some consistency in the bottom of the lineup!
I can't wait until our bullpen gets healthy enough where Vesia is no longer getting this many innings
most teams aren't getting a lot from their backup catcher. Really isn't a problem. Taylor and Lux have been problems. I trust the team won't fuck around if they don't get right. day off and then a Padres series. hopefully we handle them as we have in every regular season in perpetuity.
I wasn't comparing him to other backup catchers. It is fine to say he sucks in a vacuum. That doesn't mean I think we are missing out on all the backup catcher production out there. Lux sucks. CT3 will be fine, he basically always figures it out.
I would generally agree on Taylor, but he has just been in a backslide since inking the deal. He seems a bit lost with his big looping swing. The team has a club option on Barnes. If they want to bring one of the prospects up to replace Barnes, they'll do it in the offseason. Pretty much seems like they will trade Diego and bring up Rushing when the time is right, unless he officially moves to the infield.
i get his positional flexibility but was still surprised they extended someone with his BB/KO numbers. How was his game supposed to age with any grace?
I think the Dodgers made use of having tremendous amount of starter quality guys fill in at the bullpen throughout the years but there is legit an entire 5 man rotation not able to go right now (Kershaw, Buehler, Othani, Gonsolin, May) which would probably be the best 5 in the league as a staff and also Graterol and Trenien (who may just never come back Inshallah) who might be their two best relievers, so yeah the bullpen will not be there every night when you have that type of injury issues. Didn't even mention Sheehan who I just thought of in this stream of consciousness post. Lux and Taylor are the bigger issues, Dodgers can't just 'get healthy' at those positions unless Pages is likely to go based on some stats just cited a few posts up. Also, since the new rule for extra innings was introduced, the dodgers have to have one of the worst records in it. It is bordering on absurd but I guess the Padres probably felt that way about their luck in one run games last year. But this has gone on for years since the format was introduced.
