On one hand, I agree totally about shoulder season. You do get what you paid for, to some degree. I went in November and luckily the conditions were great, other than it being colder than I would’ve liked. On the other hand, for a resort that prides itself on outstanding service, to have greens that bad and not give advanced notice is pretty crappy.
Just listened to season 2 episode 2 of world corrupt going over some of the shit MBS has done to get and stay in power. Absolutely disgusting these liv and soon to be pga tour assholes can just hand wave this shit away for money. Fuck every single one of these people
Do any of yall use the 18 birdies app? Can’t figure out why it keeps showing all my true distance tracked shots with like -9k feet of elevation change.
What a trip. Old Course a religious experience and sad I missed North Berwick last Summer but a good reason to go back. We didn’t have caddies at Kingsbarns because my BIL overslept and it was a real miss so I’d say pick them up based on where you are headed. If you were playing Crail, Kilspindie, etc… they don’t offer caddies and you survive but this feels right.
This is what I’m talking about by the way with the 18 birdies app. I haven’t found anything online about why it’s doing that but it seems to me that’s definitely artificially inflating the yardage.
Headed to Bandon at the end of April & still excited th play them all. I go on these trips to hang out with good friends, take in beautiful scenery, & make some memories. Some bad greens won’t make it a horror story.
We’re doing Streamsong in September. Tried to book Sand Valley for 2025 and they have zero availability
For a group of 12 I booked in February within a week of when lodging opened for 2025. Got June booked for three days, one of the guys in our group knew that it wouldn't work and I tried a week later to find a different date. Nothing available from Mother's day to Labor Day for a group that size. Getting tee times there is no problem, it's just the lodging. The Bros Golf Trip business is booming
Are there any recs in here for a course somewhat close to Dublin? Trying to fit in a round with some buddies when we go over for the fsu game. Nothing more than a day trip.
Tried out the qi10 driver from Taylormade today and loved it. I wasn't in the market but that might have changed my mind
Royal county down is worth the drive and is a borderline religious experience. If that’s a little too far and you want to stay closer to Dublin, I havent played it but Portmarnock would be top of my list.
Sand Valley is much smaller than Bandon, not sure how it compares to Streamsong. Think I read they have plans to expand the lodging there which is where they’re really lacking, along with food options. The lodging issue has to be a huge part of the appeal of the location of Rodeo Dunes so that people can stay in Denver if they prefer.
This 15th hole seems a little silly Scheffler hit in 2 yards short of the hole and it ran off the front all the way in the water about 30 yards away
The shot a minute ago that was the safe shot by Tosti that rolled off 30 ft to the side bothers me more than Schefflers. Feel like that isn't too much to ask for pros to control their spin to a front pin. When the safe and sensible shot gets punished too is where Doak makes so many friends.
Portmarnock is the best in Dublin proper. Not the hotel course. Royal Dublin and The Island are also both quite good. And then if you’re willing to drive a bit, European Club or RCD are both very good. RCD is probably my favorite course in the world.
Played today for the first time in months. Ball striking was great but god damn my putting sucked, just couldn’t get my speed right
I got my driver re-shafted at Edwin Watts last year and apparently they glued it in and now it's likely ruined
If anyone is ever going to Streamsong and needs an extra player let me know. Only takes me a little over an hour to get there. Florida resident summer rates start soon and I’m looking to getting a few rounds in.
It's a Ping G425 with an adjustable shaft that gets screwed in. The clubfitter was genuinely stunned by the stupidity "I've never seen this in my 20 years"
Scottie missed from 12, 8, 12, and 5 feet in the last six holes It was his tournament again, just a bad day to be 75th out of 83 SG Putting today
Took the second lesson of my life Thursday evening. If I can ingrain what we worked on, my ball striking will improve leaps and bounds
anyone use a lab putter? the df3 caught my eye and has been getting real good reviews. i suck at rotating my hands during my putting stroke and this seems like it'd help keep the face square
I haven’t used one personally but have played with several guys that have them. Main response I’ve gotten from each of them is the ball really jumps off the putter. They said it took some time to adjust for that.
Put 8 balls OB/couldn’t find off the tee yesterday. Made five putts over 12 feet. On freshly aerated greens. Was hammering the ball through any potential break. Managed a 44 on the back. Enjoyed four beers. That’s an every man round IMO.
I’d be more inclined to drop that type of coin on a putter if I didn’t suck so bad at putting no matter the style of head
Just picked up a Cleveland 11 Mallet Soft putter on sale. I had a blade from them a couple of years ago as well. I tell you what, for a 100 bucks, that putter is awesome. These cleveland HB series putters are sneaky awesome.
They do, but like Porter said they are right here. It’s the right message from the absolute wrong party.
Tell Bryson to play in his Mickey Mouse League and golf with his youtube friends and shut the hell up in my opinion. No one on the PGA tour is going to Welcome him and blood money back to play whenever he feels like it.
