I've been searching through his youtubes looking for this one goal I once saw in one of the compilations. It's the sickest lob I've ever seen it goes way up in the air and then dive bombs into the goal with a ridiculous trajectory.
Please delete this thread so I dont have to remember the useless, fatass sitting on Roma's bench every week use to be so awesome.
He is the poster child of Brazilian player becomes succesful, parties too much (literally became an alcoholic), gets fat, and never does anything on the field again at a top level. The dude was built like a brick shit house, amazing combo of strength and skill.
I remember being fucking terrified of Adriano and now he's a laughingstock. Unfortunately, his last major contribution to the beautiful game was a blatantly intentional handball goal that effectively swung the Scudetto in Inter's favor. I'll never feel sorry for someone with his skill that is as stupid and wasteful as he is. I just can't wait for Pato to go down the same path :( At least Robinho is married to his fat fucking white wife so he should be good to go.
I don't know what's wrong with him now but he was an absolute beast for Inter in the mid 2000s. Scored something like 40 goals in 41 games at one point. He was also really good in internation play, named golden boot for a few South American international tournaments and was considered Brazil's successor to Ronaldo at one point. Apparently he's fought a losing battle to alocholism and has problems managing his weight. He got in trouble with Inter several times for showing up late to practice after partying too hard the night before. Also seems to have a flare for the dramatic as illustrated by him headbutting a player a few years ago when he was playing for a Brazilian club. There was some speculation that part of his fall from grace had to do with the death of his father. Even with all of that he was one of the best players I've ever seen, and he's still 28. I mean he has an absolute cannon for a shot, he blast the shit out of the ball and he's a big strong guy that can overpower defenders. He could conceivably make a comeback before he's too old. I don't know why he's riding the bench for Roma now.
He is Brazilian. It will happen to at least 50% of them. Some for injuries most for being idiots who like to party with hookers.
Because Roma took a gamble on him and he arrived in summer fat as fuck and out of shape. Think about Germany 2006... Brazil SHOULD have had Adriano, Ronaldinho, and Kaka in their absolute prime and Ronaldo still in great form... Instead, Ronaldo and Adriano had taken themselves out of elite player status and Ronaldinho was beginning his Ronaldo like decline. Kaka was the only one that showed up for the tournament being the good Christian boy that he is. Then, a year later and Kaka's career was on the decline due to injury. Fucking Brazilians.
Yah they had a healthy Robinho too iirc. That team was absolutely stacked on paper, just ridiculous. And they lost to fucking France The Brazilians really know how to waste some talent. If you get those guys together in top form against 2010 Spain, it's a bloodbath imo. The combination of talent between Ronaldinho, Adriano, Ronaldo, Kaka, Robinho, Ze Roberto, etc. etc. should have definitely won a world cup but they have no discipline.
Part of the problem was that Ronaldinho and Kaka could never work together, but yeah that was as much attacking talent on one team that I can remember in recent memory. Ronaldo was the best player I've ever seen, Ronaldinho was maybe the most talented I've ever seen, Kaka was nearing best in the world form, and Adriano was a nightmare before his decline. 2006 was lacking in defensive quality, though. Spain is very good, but they aren't an all time team or anything... Just a very good squad that has benefited from the major powers of the sport being down between 2008 and 2010 (even though Germany has a really great buzz going).
But when they do get it right like in '02, it was Ronaldo, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho in the attack, with Roberto Carlos and Cafu owning the wings, and Ze Roberto and Gilberto Silva holding down the CM. Zidane was a beast in that '06 QF though, controlled that whole game.
Silva and Luiz should form a ridiculous CB partnership... Hernanes, Ganso, Neymar, Robinho, Pato, etc. FUCK BTW, Hernanes is going to be ridiculously good by 2014.
Insane amount of talent and the pressure to have their whole family kidnapped and killed if they dont win = World Cup Champions (plus add some FIFA corruption)
If we have Ganso, Pato, Robinho, and Silva, then I'll be plenty happy for them if they win. So much can happen between now and then, but they have to be the clear favorites barring catastrophe.
