depends. we're playing zone so Clanton don't put up 40 points again (seems to be working well in that regard). although, we're being extremely lazy in that zone. they look lethargic out there. we'll make it close, b/c we're always a 2nd half team anyways. hopefully you start missing some 3's, but better defense would help.
We got this guy this morning btw http://rivals.yahoo.com/ucf/basketb...rory-144884;_ylt=ArO.K25QTLo2MA70q..B2lC6uJB4
NittanyKnight I don't see a penn state thread so I guess yall have your own board but do you have any recommendations for places to stay in State College? Hotels are looking pretty packed already and we haven't found anything on vrbo or other vacation rental sites. I thought we were getting our planning started early but it looks like it may be tougher than we thought.
Couple of questions will help pick out the best area to go outside of State College. Where you flying into or are you driving there? How long are you going to be there?
I personally will be driving since I'm in Charlotte but I imagine most in the group will be flying. Probably Harrisburg would be my best guess? Is staying in State College impossible?
@McMurphyESPN: NBC Sports Network offers Big East $20M-$23M/year for media rights, sources tell @ESPN
Yeah Harrisburg is probably the best bet if you are coming from the south. Also those little map dots along I80 will have places but there is absolutely nothing else at most of them.
Only thing I can think of is for basketball next year or something during the transition. At first I read it as per year and I was like take that deal now but no way that is for a 12 team league.
Goknights52 Post #6818 MyFanPage Add Buddy Ignore Re: Any Dungeon member who lives in Orlando Reply I've heard discussions of students studying excessively and how intense the school work is for today's student at UCF - is this the case? Do we have a shit ton of nerds who have flocked to UCF and actually study so much they can't take off 1:45 on basketball game day or 3:15 on a Saturday for a football game?? Has UCF relied too much on GPA and SAT scores when accepting freshman students and not looking at the overall student? Or is our campus just dominated with AA transfers from Valencia who are already gator fans?? Is it just uncool to attend sporting events? It would be interesting to see some sort of case study on campus to find out what these kids are thinking. We need them on board to grow our fanbase so let's figure a way to get them to put the books / video games down for a few hours a week to attend the games!
Welp it's already lasted way longer than I expected. I imagine KL is frantically texting and calling Brandon demanding it be taken down.
I feel like every time he reports something, someone, usually Brandon, says its untrue and then before we can figure out if mcmurphy is wrong or not the big east implodes again. Either way this is horrible for us.
Definitely horrible whether its true or not, because it will accomplish what ESPN wants. Make the public perception of Big East football even worse than it already is, drive the price for the product down, and then the Big East comes crawling back to ESPN, who gets the deal at a much lower rate than it is worth and makes even more money off of it. Drive the price down, buy low, sell high. Works that way in free markets, but ESPN is just going about it in an extra-sleazy way. Shocking.
On the Today Show this morning, they had an article about the phone app "snapchat" which is very popular with teenage girls. They showed a couple 15 year old girls going through the complete snapchat process, and one of the friends they sent their picture to had the username "GeorgiaKnight11." It really made me wonder.

Since we didn't have any extra scholarships to give with our two early signees, this JUCO big man means someone on this year's team won't be here next year (besides Clanton). Rod Days is the obvious choice since he's a sophmore guard that's already lost PT to two freshman. This is a pretty good swap since we have some guard depth and we need some more depth at the 4/5 spot. I'm curious though if we land the JUCO point guard, who would be the next candidate to "decide to transfer". Everyone else on the team gets pretty regular PT with the exception of Dylan Karell. But Karell is the closest thing we have to a 7-footer and I'm surprised we'd give up on him after a year to add another pg. He at least seemed to be a decent athlete and high motor. But everyone else on the team is a pretty big contributor already or pretty evident they will be a big contributor next season (Blair).
Days has been rumored to be out since December when he lost PT when Walker and Newell were starting to get his minutes. I could see Karell go, he's just not that athletic which is DJ's style. And odd as it is to say it Wilson has been losing minutes by the bunches to Williams. I know he was awesome last year in spot duty, he has a great 3 pt shot, but since confrence play started his 3 pointer has been off and he's only getting a few of them a game now. He seems to be a step slower too, Many times he gace up lay ups when he was switching late in the post. His best CUSA game was ECU where he scored and 3 drives in a row. I'm not saying he's next to go, but he has had some issues and I'd like to see him work through them and grow, but he seems very frustrated when he's on the court since January.
Yeah, I think Days is a no brainer. Beyond Karell, Wilson is the only other possibility just sounds weird to say since he's been pretty productive. He's been a pretty good contributor, but stepping up in competition next year, he's just really undersized at the PF spot and we've got enough athletic wings to cover the three spot and the one recruit coming in is supposed to be a lights out shooter. As far as Karell, I wouldn't be surprised, its just hard to find guys with that kind of size that are reasonably athletic. I gotta imagine he's more athletic than the 340 lb freshman coming in. Plus we are thin at the PF/C spots. I just hope if we get this JUCO point guard he's a true difference maker, because we've got a lot of guards already.
I heard a good point from genohatesme about our tv deal. If we were really getting 2mil a year, uconn would be pairing up with the catholic 7 and going football independent. Even if they got 10 bucks for their football they would more than double their tv money.
Looks like things are moving forward with the super low NBC offer (that ESPN can still match) Oh happy day.
Im just quoting this to show how unfortunately right I am. Everyone including Brandon is now freaking out because that is likely the actual number. When mcmurphy posts something, no matter how slanted it may seem, he usually is right or something changes that makes things even worse. People just cant wrap their heads around the fact that we are a crappy conference and will get paid as such, so they bash mcmurphy. However that is all changing now as they finally are starting to realize that we have a dismal future as long as we're in this conference. Its a cynical and depressing view, but its the truth.
Yea. I had assumed it wasn't true because it made no sense at all that the C7 would get a better deal for bball only. I should know better by now... Fuck...
Now Big East, what did we learn from all of this? Do not fucking fuck with ESPN. I can not believe how ruthless they are when you are on their shit list.
Fox was worse. Them getting a pass pisses me off. They made the c7 that insane offer to strip them away. C7 wasn't leaving until that. Kinda shows the value of the old big east though. If bball only gets 5 imagin what they could get with pitt cuse wv and Louisville still on the schedule.
Fox was never going to make the big east an offer because they have enough football programming. They saw a chance to sign the best or next to best college basketball league. I don't blame them at all.
My issue is that the teams that fucked with ESPN got lifeboats and much higher paydays and the new people get fucked.
The C7 is not even in the disscussion for the top basketball leauge. It might het TV's due to the names alone but the product will be worse, besides Georgetown and Marqutte who else has been a top team. ACC, BigXII are the top and then there is a big mess behind that.
