While this is funny, why is it if we take out "Mormon" and insert "black African-American" it's serious?
Because race and religion aren't exactly the same thing. Say what you want about the Rooney rule or AA in general, i dont really care either way, but that's not a very good comparison
Both of these made me shake my head. Especially the half court shot one. Thanks ESPN for clarifying that when you win a bunch of money, you'll pay tax on it. Also, if I remember right, the guy that made that shot won $75K, so his after-tax income is still $53K simply for making an impressive shot at half time...I think he's still making out alright
Jeff Van Gundy during the Lakers/Thunder game just now: "I vote to replace Rondo on the All Star Team with Stephen Curry"

fwiw Rachel Nichols leaving ESPN for CNN ESPN reporter Rachel Nichols will host a new sports show for CNN on the weekends (Photo: Nick Wass, AP) Rachel Nichols, a reporter with ESPN for nine years, is leaving for sports roles at CNN and Turner Sports. With her new employers, Nichols will anchor a new weekend sports program on CNN beginning later this year and handle a variety of assignments across sports for Turner Sports, including the NBA and Major League Baseball. She also will cover major events such as the Olympics. Her first assignment will be covering the upcoming Super Bowl for CNN. "You can characterize this move as an effort to increase sports programming on CNN," network spokeswoman Christa Robinson said. In a statement, Nichols said: "I couldn't be more excited." Says ESPN spokesman Mike Soltys: "She was a valued contributor to us and we wish her the best at CNN." Before joining ESPN, Nichols worked for The Washington Post and the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. In a tweet Thursday, Nichols says she "couldn''t be more grateful for my time at ESPN." At ESPN, Nichols worked as a correspondent for SportsCenter, Sunday NFL Countdown, NBA Countdown and E:60, as well covering the sidelines for NFL studio shows and on a number of Monday Night Football games. Miami Heat forward LeBron James tweeted: "Congrats to @Rachel__Nichols on the new gig!! Best of luck to you"

Jaws and Merrill Hodge "analyzing" games together has to be among the worst two team tandem in ESPN history Jaws tries to be edgy and cool with Mr. Edgy himself Merrill Hodge and make the weirdest noises/commentary I have ever seen on ESPN
Can we kill whoever decided that remixing coach and player interviews into shitty techno/rap auto tunes was a good idea?
Watching sportscenterU. Surprisingly not bad. They have hosts that actually talk about games and highlights rather than us hearing Doug gottlieb tell us about his experience at assembly hall in the 90's. (I know I know he's at CBS now but fuck you). Also, they strictly showed highlights and discussed sports. At the end of the Michigan/Indiana highlight, they compared the production between each teams front court and discussed how that benefited Indiana, rather than being normal sportscenter and comparing the height and weight of the harbaugh brothers to tom crean.
