I've never tried them. I figure if UPS isn't broke I'll keep illegally sending beer through their company.

 

Yep, plus they all know me by name now, too. Not that it helps much, but if anyone has a AAA membership you save 5%. It's only a buck or two on most shipments, but if you have a lot going out it's a little something.

They don't ask for a return address at the store.

 

Empire Brewing (its a brewpub) is the best spot. It's downtown Syracuse. It's also across the street from the Blue Tusk, which is a great beer bar. Middle Ages brewery is great too, limited tasting room hours. Jryans is also a great beer bar. Head south about an hour to Ithaca brewery, they opened up their new brewpub in Sept. Also, head west to the finger lakes, about 20 different breweries/brewpubs on the lakes. Roosterfish in watkins glenn is outstanding, as is two goats. U can head north to watertown, hit sacketts harbor, again it also has a restaurant.

System I have developed after one shipment. Ziploc each bottle. Wrap each bottle individually with bubble wrap.
Place those bottles inside a small box with padding so that they don't move around. Tape that box.
Place that box inside another box. Pad that box.
It's overkill but I have marcus level paranoia.

 

I did the second half of what's suggested, but half of my shipment to zz got all fucked up.

I'll soon be nutting up and sending out another care package to you (pretty sure you were asking about Schlafly) and the Godfather. Just have to find the good stuff again.

 

Naive me says why have so much paranoia if you dont include a return address?

 

In north western PA tonight, enjoying a few tasty brews at Voodoo Brewery. Great one-offs at the brewery. HTP IPA is outstanding.

 

My biggest fear in the world is that I receive a shipment and all the bottles are intact.
My shipment has a bottle or two that doesn't make it.

Also spiders #2, snakes #3 on the fear list in case you were wondering.

 

UPS is a private company. If your beer breaks, they just throw it away. USPS is the one where you're "breaking laws", but I have a couple friends who have had beers break and never really get in trouble.

Perroh i have an underdark, humidor, heady, and donkey show for you. The donkey show drinks more like a barleywine than a DIPA now. It has changed a lot since initial bottling.

 

Fargin you were gonna obtain some BCBS for me and a stout from that brewery that made the gingerbread stuff (name escapes me right now). Also feel free to let me know if you can get other great stouts or sours from your region.

I only have a couple BCBS and was going to give you one of mine. Same with the BBPt5. Hardywood is the brewery you're talking about and yes I have you one. I'll be in DC next week. If I find some BCBS I'll get you some, otherwise it will be just the one.

Planning on making my beer run for Spaulding this sunday and cdaysker.

 

I now use FedEx exclusively. If you set up an online account you get an automatic discount every time you print your own shipping labels. Plus when you do your own labels you can just drop the package off, never having to explain to anyone what is in the box. It's also a few dollars cheaper than UPS.

For packing, I'm not super uptight about but haven't had issues so far. My new method is electrical tape around the cap, bubble wrap rubberbanded around the bottle then wrap it in newspaper and tape it up. Try not to put tape directly onto the bubble wrap, that way the person you are shipping to can reuse it. Make sure there is enough filler so that the bottles move as little as possible.

 

Buzz TC Just talked to greene's piney grove. they said not to expect hopslam for about a month.

 

Wtf? I talked to Wes last week and he said just keep checking bc he didn't know when it would be exactly. He was thinking end of the month but I guess he was wrong. Sucks we are getting it so late

We are about to start getting Green Flash in my area. I am excited to try out some of their stuff.
