Who cares about draft stock? Te'o has a 10 year WWE career locked up with this fake girlfriend gimmick.
The sad part is journalistic integrity has declined even worse in areas that actually matter - ie: politics, world/current events. ESPN is propaganda and spins a narrative just like everyone else does. Maybe this will wake some people up.
This and the whole "her flying to Hawaii/he met her at a Stanford game" narrative is why I don't believe Te'o. Gets in a car accident and he doesn't visit her? Gets leukemia and he doesn't visit her when it's first diagnosed? Let alone near the end of her "life." Let alone when she dies. So much bullshit.
From somewhere on the interwebz: "I am a walk-on at Notre Dame. I did not play this year but was on the practice squad. We have been told to keep quiet on this, but as a non-scholarship player who plans on transferring, I don't care. We knew this girl was a hoax sometime in October. People in the locker room and around the football program started talking about it. The coaches knew but everyone was told to more or less play dumb. Facts are Te'o sexuality was in question his freshman year and there were rumors he was gay. Te'o then all the sudden had this G/F and then all the sudden she was dying, etc. etc. I think he made up this G/F story to hide his sexuailty and it backfired on him. I have nothing against Gays personally, but at a big Catholic school like this it is hard to overcome. Te'o's problem is that he kept telling this lie when he knew it wasn't real, and even added to it with her dying I guess for attention or whatever. Either way, I'm done with this place and Kelly." Brandon
And that, I think, is really the key point being lost on most. To think about what could have been really makes this whole saga that much more depressing.

So you really believe Manti was this naive? I could believe it if it was a relationship that was only months old, not over a year
So a while back I said espn knew for a while and they did then, right? They don't say anything when they find out? Why? Who's covering this all up? Why didn't this get out prior to the article? There HAS to be a bigger story here.
no it hasn't. espn is the worst in terms of declining journalistic integrity. cite examples if you're going to make an outlandish statement retard.
Making up people, talking to them, and telling your friends and the media about them isn't normal But on religion it is
I posted an article a page ago that offers a pretty good explanation. Basically he thought she was a real person and probably had some feelings for her, but it is doubtful that she was the love of his life.
Maybe, I'm still skeptical until I hear more. Now, if this was a relationship for 3-4 years then no, but if it was a friendship thing that "bloomed" (my understanding from when it all first came out) I can buy it.
I don't know if it's been confirmed, but I sincerely hope that some sort of interview happens tonight. This and Lance in the same night would make for gold faggotry.
I didn't even check. I just assumed that if someone was going to troll they could at least get a walk-on's name right.
If she was just a Internet girlfriend like Shocker and SF are to me, then I understand why he didn't go. Him not going is not that unusual if he thought she was a real person but only had spoken to her on the phone and online.
Collin Klein got engaged to a girl who he had not been on a date with. I honestly wonder what the fuck Manziel and those two clowns talked about for three days.
Well the lead up to the Iraq war for one. I think it is plain to see that journalistic integrity is gone. Maybe you buy what the MSM reports hook, line and sinker. I don't.
Because if ESPN reports this, they look like fools because they had the hype machine cranked up to 10 for this kid.
My buddy (we both went to ND) just texted me that "Manti was scared and didn't know what to believe when the whole thing went down" in regards to the basis for inconsistencies in his story. facepalm
No, that's typical ESPN ratings generating ridiculousness. 1. Build something up 2. Profit 3. Tear that same thing down 4. Profit 5. Repeat
Well, the whole thing is unusual. I don't think anyone could really say what would be considered "usual" in this case. If I was calling someone my girlfriend for close to three years, I'd probably try to see at her some point when she was in the hospital for her leukemia or her car accident, but that's just me.
-Teo is Gay -Uses lover/Tuiasosopo to create fake GF -Teo and lover/Tuiasosopo fight & break up -lover/Tuiasosopo gets revenge by "killing" the G/F -Teo has to continue story as it spirals out of control. /shu post
because this story isn't like other stories they report before getting all the facts. even espn is going to hold off on calling out a player for lying about a dead girlfriend that never existed before they have complete confirmation. can you imagine the backlash if they reported it and it turned out to be false? a site like deadspin isn't accepted as a credible new source, so they're not exactly held to the same standards, even given the fact that espn's standards are lower than most.
Daniel Ocean You are one of the most beautiful people I have ever met and blown in my entire life, and I'm not just talking about physical beauty, but that is also good
Pat Forde @YahooForde Y! Sources: ND waited on Te'o to tell story and he passed on expected announcement. http://yhoo.it/XdHoHH
