Reminds me of the Simpson's where the judge lets Bart off on a case of "boys will be boys." Mormons gonna Mormon
Why would a pro team not draft him in the first round over this? This isn't something that he can duplicate in the future. It's not like a player that tested positive multiple times and is a risk to get suspended by the league.
If you read the Deadspin article, it was very clear they were trying to suggest that's what they thought happened.
You know what we haven't done yet? Copy/pasted awesome posts from notre dame boards. What are some good ND boards?
Eventually he does if he ever wants to get an endorsement deal or do another interview, ever. Look at the history of scandals, save a huge story topping it, they don't go away until the media has their fill.
Lol seriously? If he doesn't answer their questions they aren't risking a 1st round pick on a guy who won't talk to them.
There have been some, but I'm sure NDNation is its usually treasure trove of awesomeness if you want to go copy/paste.
I think we, the-mainboard, need to get out ahead of this story. Someone needs to honeypot Te'o Let's hear some nominations
He'll probably spew out the same hole filled story that's out there now, with maybe a few more of the gaps closed. No pro team is going to sit there and actually try to figure this whole thing out, because it's retarded.
I don't think Teo's original intention was to fuel a Heisman run, but it just sort of ended up happening that way. I mean, Te'o started this hoax way back in 2009 or 2008 with the plan of running this up to his senior year so he could help gain momentum to be the first non-specialist defensive player to ever win the Heisman? The only chance he'd have at the Heisman would be for ND to be undefeated, which even the batshit crazy Te'o wouldn't have thought was possible. My hunch is that this whole thing started as either a joke (with Te'o involved) or more likely a gay cover-up. Once the story started gaining publicity on a national level last summer (August), Te'o decided to run with it and exploit it for his own personal gain at that point to see how far he could take it.
I I think with as many holes as there are out there that's the worst thing he can do. If he says nothing this will eventually blow over. There's no way he does this interview and it clears up everything unless he says he's a gay, or admits to being involved in the fabrication. Which he is not going to do.
This isn't going away, it's the most fascinating story in God knows how long. And with the combine and draft coming up there's no chance it blows over.
Is that 11-12 Hawaiian time? I'm sure his boyfriend is still over there and is pretending to be girl.
the amount of likes given out...staggering. will return this evening and sort through another 20-30 pages of excellence dispensing gratitude. Thank you, Mr. Teo for the pre-signing day entertainment holdover.
Surprised that douchebag apologist Mandel hasn't went to the "who can say Notre Dame is irrelevant" well one more time.
Really? It shows a lack of leadership, honesty, intelligence, common sense, etc... While he obviously won't be making up a girlfriend again, there is now a history of either 1.) A mentally unstable person 2.) An incredibly immature person or 3.) An incredibly dishonest and selfish person. Regardless of why he did it, it raises many red flags for NFL teams to think about. If he was capable of all of this, how can he be trusted in any situation on or off the field?
I think this will be incredibly telling. The ghost of Lennay logging onto Twitter and making a statement will definitely shine some light on this
You could be right, i've never seen any figure at a press conference or media thing drink anything other than water though. Didn't get a good look at the color of the liquid
If he lasts more than 2 years in the league it will be a miracle. Do you not remember what high school locker room culture was like? The NFL is just a HGH-fueled version of that. He'll be torn apart every day and he's not a good enough player on the field for people to forget about this.
It really does. I was never a bigot until I moved to the west coast and started interacting with their like on the regular.
This is my guess. Te'o truly didn't find out he had been duped until December, but before that he simply lied about the details of the relationship to make it seem like it wasn't somebody he had never actually met. I mean, I can't imagine admitting to your teammates that your "girlfriend" was just somebody who you talk to online and on the phone with. Once the whole grandmother thing happened, the person fucking with him decided to pile on and end it and it spiraled out of control from there, with the lies getting more and more ridiculous to cover the story so the truth didn't come out.
I agree entirely. My stance is that if he's actually a good player, it's not going to matter, because that's all anyone gives a shit about in that situation. From all other accounts, the kid was a good teammate. If he makes it through his first season and plays well, this will all be behind him. My opinion is based on the fact that he wasn't in on this from the very beginning. If that's what turns out to be the case then he's a lying POS and it will never stop following him.
BUT HE DIDN'T EVER GO TO A FUNERAL. Didn't see her in the hospital. Didn't see an obit. Nothing. What the fuck? If your girlfriend who you supposedly loved bit the dust, you wouldn't just move along with your day like nothing happened.
Exactly, most often the simplest answer is the truth. Grandma died "Lennay" saw and opportunity to kill herself off when he wasn't going to research it to much because of his other grief ESPN got a hold of it and ran with it for 3 months, he finds out it was all BS in December and by then it is too late/the NC game was coming so he let it soak
And the other side to that argument is that Teo's "lack of leadership, honesty, intelligence, common sense, etc..." hurt ND so badly on the field this year that it went 12-0 and had the best season the program has had in a couple decades. I'm not saying this is a non-issue. It is something that he's going to have to answer to with any NFL team that wants to consider him and the media at least a few times at pressers and what not. This isn't going to preclude him from anything, though.
"She" INSISTED that he not leave ND if she died, it was all discussed before hand, was he gullible hell yes, but that part of the story is pretty unimportant.
