TBH who knows, he was given 2 LB's that were #1 and #2 in the B1G last year. I would have been competent coaching them. He did a great job with our 3rd LB who I thought would be awful going into the season.
For Partridge he's good, definitely the biggest loss. His D-line's are built to stop the run. He's okay at producing a pass rush, the lines have been inconsistent at rushing the passer and recently very poor. Don't expect any more JJ Watt's that was more of a freak case. He's quite skilled at stopping the run. That's his strength imo. He won't pump out great pass rushers every year but the line will always be consistently stout against the run. Don't be excited about his recruiting either. It's not like he's pulling great talent from FL. Go look at the offer sheets of the FL guys from Wisconsin, would you rather go to Eastern Illinois or Wisconsin? The only notable recruit from FL was James White, who had other decent BCS offers (Clemson was the 2nd best). I kind of exclude RB's from Wisconsin's recruiting, because it doesn't take much convincing to run behind these lines. That's great for the B1G but in the SEC you can't take the 3rd tier of Florida players and expect to be good when Florida, Georgia, and Bama are all getting the cream of the crop. Overall a solid coach who will produce a solid D-line.
Our goal in FL recruiting isn't to compete with UF/UGA/FSU etc for the best of the bunch. That'd be nice, but we just want to grab the 3rd or 4th (or 5th) tier guys, who can fill out the roster and maybe produce a surprise player or two (a little running back that was overlooked but who can be a great player for us, etc).

Not very popular here anymore as he was early on. In Petrino's first couple years he got a lot of credit for the body transformations of Greg Childs, Knile Davis and his rehab, etc. We had a lot of big/soft guys the last couple years that never got bigger/stronger/faster. Kind of hard to hold that against him though because we recruited some stupid, lazy 's I'm also very negative about pretty much every member of the staff this past season. We played like a bunch of pussies all season He's got several years of experience in an SEC program, so I can't say it's a bad hire for NC State.
Thanks. He's one of the more "controversial" hires, because apparently our players LOVED our new S&C guy (it was his 1st and unfortunately only year here and he was a former player etc etc). So hopefully this guy can keep it going with the players.
I think the players liked him a lot here. He did some mildly cool shit like "ring the bell" in the weight room and using a sledge hammer to break some rocks or some shit if you did something impressive in the weight room There was a pretty cool video earlier itt that the university released that showed some of the workouts with our players. Ill start with Wednesday of last week: body aches, fever Thurs: fever, stomach pain, vomiting Friday: body aches, nasal congestion, swollen tonsils, sinus drainage when I'm sleeping Saturday: body aches, vomiting, fever, sinus drainage when I'm sleeping Sunday: felt better, but dehydrated and very congested, sinus drainage when I'm sleeping Today: congestion, vomiting, and fever going back up, and my throat feels very sore, chest pain with cough I'm dying aren't I?
Seems like the only two times I've gotten this sick was when I got the flu shot Got it 3 years ago iirc and was sicker than hell for 5 days. Got it this again this year. Not as violently ill as I was 3 years ago but this has been dragging out for longer. There is also blood when I blow my nose and in the mornings when I have all that drainage
