Hahaha I've done drunk flashing before. Doesn't end well. 4.2 changes the file system, that's why all your stuff got moved. I thought about jumping the gun and flashing 4.2 but CM seems to be close to fully merged so I've decided to wait. Take a look at CM's G+ page for some updates: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+CyanogenMod/posts
http://rng.io/about/index.html Have you guys ever heard of this ring mark test for comparing mobile browsers?
Alright, so I got Sprint to give me the S3 today for .99 so I can finally upgrade from my original EVO. I'm looking forward to finally rooting a phone and I'll definitely be using the links posted here. However, is there a particular ROM that will be stable and give the best battery life? My situation is that I use my phone's GPS for my job and I need the battery to last as long as possible since I can't plug it into a charger. Any recommendations?
There is a thread on slickdeals about it. For me I called and explained that since I'm out of contract I'm shopping around for the best deal, regardless of network. I asked for the samsclub Black Friday price, they recommended I just go to sams, I explained that I'm working all day Friday and can't, then they eventually gave me the price so I would stay with sprint. Its a big YMMV thing. I really was ready to leave sprint for the best deal. They are also having a $49.99 sale on the s3 if you eligible for an upgrade.
I'm using the latest Jellybomb rom on my Sprint S3 and it's been giving me great results so far. As much as I loved CM I just kept having to many issues with my LTE hand off and had to go back to a TW rom and this has done the job great so far.
Allegedly, some Canadian carrier has the Nexus 4 running lte... http://www.engadget.com/2012/11/23/nexus-4-lte-working-canada/
Takes some work, but it is kind of working on Telus in Canada. I've been browsing the XDA thread, really interesting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2007943 If a N4 drops for AT&T with LTE I will be first in line to switch from Verizon and pick one up. I mean, I might have driven by two T-Mobile stores already to see if they had any N4's in stock...
My lady is in the market on AT&T, choosing between SIII and Note 2. That Note 2 is nice as hell. Think she's leaning that way, but it is a huge phone.
The 4.2 bugs seem kind of big this time around. For the first time in a long time I'm not dying to update. Contently waiting for CM10.1.
reports on DNA's battery life from early adopters seem incredibly positive. all claims seem to point to as good or better life than GIII or Nexus 4. super excited to get the phone at this point. should be making a purchase in the next week or so.
Also the bootloader has been unlocked (despite Verizon's best effort): http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-droid-dna-bootloader-unlock-now-available
Finally got ParanoidKangDroid (4.2) Running, I had an old version of CWM recovery that was the hold up, love this rom. Running it on my S3 and N7
New wave of emails went out today telling people their back ordered Nexus 4's are shipping. Hopefully this means they will open the ordering back up again. Because this guy is going to break down and buy one. Also ordered a case for when it comes in. Normally go naked with phones but I'm not about to shatter the back of my new off contract, no warranty phone. Went with the matte black version of this http://www.rearthusa.com/google-nexus-4-ringke-slim-case (always heard good things about these cases from the Galaxy Nexus folks).
Put my first gen ipad up on craigslist today. I will probably grab a nexus 10 at some point this month.
I'm still on my Galaxy Nexus (which I love) and just flashed Xenon's 4.2 ROM last night. I used it all day today and haven't experienced any of the bugs or lag I've read about so I'm guessing it's a decent one; I've been very pleased with their work before.

Saw a brand new note 2 on Craigslist for 400. If it's still around Friday I'm going to grab it. Anyway, they are starting to come down a little.
Played with one the other day for the first time. Really wish I was okay with the size, because it is an awesome device. Love love love the stylus. It's just a little too big when holding it up to your face to make a phone call.
Yea, I am all about the size. The bigger than better for me. I'm probably going to sell my evo lte and buy one in the next month or so.
Ok guys, got a choice to make. My carrier is US Cellular (not switching). GSIII, Note 2, or Motorola Electrify M. All are 4G LTE. Those who have one of these devices give me pros and cons. I've got a few notes below, feel free to comment and point out any misconceptions/half truths, etc. GSIII- Since it's on big 3 carriers plenty of dev support. Heard that some folks get some dropped call issues. Like the size. Battery life? Electrify M- Not sure what kind of dev is being done on this one, love the feel of the phone, have had good luck with Moto in the past. Note 2- Love everything about this phone, is it too big? How's battery?
I'd say Galaxy S3. Very similar to the Note 2, just normal phone size. But go into the store and see which one you like more. Also I haven't heard anything about dropped calls but I've only been around the Verizon version.
Note 2. Went into AT&T with my lady to look at new phones and figured we'd settle on GSIII or Nexus 4. Walked out and she's most likely getting a Note 2.
Root apps, custom recovery. Personally I couldn't live without AdFree, Titanium Backup, or ClockworkMod.
what root apps? it seems like a pretty open book already. I really like being in AOSP, but ironically nexus 7 hasn't gotten the 4.2.1 update yet.
To be fair though, TiBu and CWM aren't really helpful if you aren't wiping your device and loading up new ROMS. I see the benefit in AdFree. I know nothing about current Nexus 7 ROMS, but I would imagine toggles, kangs, and the ability to theme out your device would also be beneficial from rooting. Custom kernels and governing with root access could be helpful as well.
Well kind of. I use Titanium to move apps between phone and tablet with data. For example, play a game on the tablet and want to transfer your progress to the phone or vice versa. Also with CMW I use it to flash updates if they don't hit right away (when I'm not on CM).
I love Volume 6. maybe my favorite version of Satellite they've done. also dear god I can't wait to hop up from GB to Jellybean. I am excite.
Order placed Thank you. Your order has been placed, and you will receive an email shortly with the details of your purchase. ITEMPRICEQTYTOTAL Nexus 4 (16GB) $349.00 1 $349.00
while I know it wasn't prudent of me as I'm not going to buy, I logged in and tried to buy one just to see how bad it was. It was much worse than I expected.
It was awful. If you could get it in your cart you had a shot. All you had to do was click "Process" like a million times. I downloaded an auto-clicker, started it, and sat back. Truth be told, I actually ordered 2. Cancelled one though.
So last night I got the urge to try out 4.2. Flashed the factory image on my N7 and just rooted. Man, it's a lot better than I thought it would be. I'm really liking quick toggles. Lock screen widgets are still weird. Also, decided to put 4.2 on my phone as well. After a lot of research I went with Mmuzzy's rom. Here is a link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762846 So far it's been flawless, no problems what so ever.
