Castellanos is a monster, won MVP in the futures game and is expected to hit the majors late this season/early next season. But yeah we'd need more than that
And the last time we made a trade of our franchise player to those fucks up there in detroit we were sold gold that turned out to be shit in a gold wrapper
in other news Marlins were awarded a compensatory pick between the 1st and second round in something called the competitive balance lottery
At least we get a draft pick for having shitty fans Competitive Balance Lottery Results By Ben Nicholson-Smith [July 18 at 2:30pm CST] Baseball’s first Competitive Balance Lottery took place in New York City today. The lottery, which allocates additional draft picks to small-market and low-revenue teams, provides teams with draft choices they can choose to use or trade. The Diamondbacks, Orioles, Indians, Royals, Athletics, Pirates, Padres, Rays, Reds, Rockies, Marlins, Brewers and Cardinals were eligible to obtain draft picks. The Tigers were also eligible, though only for the group of selections that takes place after the second round. Here are the results, via MLB.com: Selections Between First & Second Rounds (Round A) Royals Pirates Diamondbacks Orioles Reds Marlins Selections After Second Round (Round B) Padres Indians Rockies Athletics Brewers Tigers The Rays and Cardinals
Hanley simply has no protection. The guy can hit, we all saw him in the HR derby a few years back (It was in Detroit I believe) where he was hitting them 450 feet easily. Notice since Giancarlo got hurt his BA has steadily dropped. Although its kind of hard to fall into a slump for a full season and a half so I would chalk it up to something else, just dont know what yet.
Thats your issue you are thinking Hanley is the same player he was a few years ago, don't know wtf has happened to him but he's not the same player
Hanley is an average 3B nothing more nothing less. He fooled us his first 3 years. You can't say he's been in a slump, it's been 3 years...
Rumors say everyone on the Marlins roster is on the market (Not named Giancarlo Stanton) after losing 2 of 3 to the Cubs.
Only players I think are untouchable right now would be Reyes and Stanton Hanley we have already discussed Anibal if you can get a kings ransom for you do it JJ has been a shell of his former self, if you get a good enough offer you take it Nolasco is heading to an expensive arbitration right? Or did he ever get that long term deal he wanted? Lomo has been stinking up the joint all year maybe I'm just getting my hoosier on but teams will overpay out the ass for players at the trade deadline, I'm not saying deal all those guys...but if you get a good enough offer of some top prospects and/or young players take it
Hanley wants to hit the ball 500 feet every time, if he just tried to be a good ball player and drive the ball to the gap he'd win another batting title.
I think he tries to hit balls as far as Giancarlo thats why he always looks like he's swinging out of his shoes.
and lets face it...we will trade him to some contender and Hanley will get a fire lit under his ass and hit 50 home runs the second half
If were gonna turn this around, its gonna be on Jose Reyes, JJ, and Hanley to start playing like they have in the past. Everything else will fall into place around those 3 guys.
so the season is officially over. infante and anibal sanchez to detroit for their top pitching prospect http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob_Turner
Haven't we learned anything about trading with the Tigers? Hopefully this kid isn't another Andrew Miller. Edit: Sounds like the Tigers fans think they gave up two much FWIW
FWIW AaronBoone_ESPN Aaron Boone Love the Marlin/Tigers trade. Good short term for the Tigers and longterm for the Fish! Infante/ASanchez for JacTurner & Brantley
Fine with me, lets just hope it turns out better than the last time we traded for some top prospects from Det Sox and Rangers are scouting JJ tonight Like I said fine with me, anybody but Reyes and Stanton. We have a shit in the farm system minus our 2 stud pitchers we just drafted and Yelich. Lets load up the farm system with guys who will be in the majors in the next year or 2
Jon Morosi @jonmorosi Spoke with one scout who believes Brantly has a higher overall value than Turner. #Marlins did well in this trade.
I agree...we really need to bounce hanley and heath at this point I'm sick of the H2R whiny bitch stuff hitting pop ups every at bat
We need to restock with young talent. We need to get something for Hanley, JJ etc. before it is too late and their stock is low and we can't get shit for them...just like we did with Sanchez and Infante. After lastnight JJ's stock will be going up for sure I looked at the Brantly kids stats in AAA and he wasn't lighting the world on fire at the plate, however he will be an upgrade over that bum we have at catcher now
people said the same about our last trade with them when we got their 2 top prospects in Maybin and Miller and were able to get them to take D-trains awful contract in return
I don't remember the exact details of that trade, but Willis didn't do shit with the Tigers while Maybin was one of the best CFer's in the league last year. Mistake was not being more patient with him, not the trade itself. Anytime you can get a prospect of Turner's caliber for a 2 month rental, it's a good trade to me. The fact you got other prospects, one of which might be as good as Turner, makes this a steal.
I think we all expected Miller to be an ace whereas all this kid needs to be is a serviceable 3rd or 4th starter. I'm not ready to give up on JJ yet, Buehrlie can be a solid number two for a few more years and Nolasco a number 3. Then we have the last two number one picks in the minors. How far away is Yelich? Lee is gone this offseason and I don't want to go through another year of Logan Morrison
I used to Hanley, but for the first time since he has been a marlin I wouldn't be too upset if we traded him for a group of top prospects
Hanley is tricky. I'm all aboard trading him but I don't know how our farm system looks at the position. We just dealt Dominguez, who was garbage, but I think was our best 3b prospect.
he's not our clean up hitter, chicken little. he's still young and is going into his 3rd full season in the majors. i'm not ready to give up on a hitter that talented that fast.
he's been hurt all year with his knee and played. come on with that bullshit plus like andres said he's talented and young, give him some time
