That is something I do not know. Since they aren't even sure who carved WAR on his body it's hard to know why the W was carved like that. Most reports state that Krenwinkel was the one that carved the word "WAR" in the stomach of Leno Labianca but Tex Watson claims he was the one. It is agreed that Krenwinkel wrote "Death to Pigs", "Rise", and "Healter Skelter" (spelled wrong) in Leno's blood in various places inside the Labianca home. Since the R on RISE looked very similar to the R on WAR many people think she wrote it and just can't remember. Tex was one the main person who killed Leno so there's also a good chance he did it. After Leno was dead, Krenwinkel stuck a big carving fork in his body and proceeded to flick it back and forth in a playful manner just to watch it move. She ended up leaving that and another knife stuck in his body.
Image of a young US sergeant at the moment he learns that the body bag next to him contains the body of his friend, killed by "friendly fire". The widely published photo became an iconic image of the 1991 Gulf war - a war in which media access was limited by Pentagon restrictions.
It's pretty well done. Doesn't have any media bias and shows what Marines are really dealing with. That has to be some scary shit searching from house to house not knowing what's behind the corner
holocaust mass graves: I think these people were shot from the rim of the grave. I can't imagine what that felt like knowing what was coming
more from the Korengal Valley he's alive, just tired from carrying heavy shit Juan "Doc" Restrepo on the left
Timothy Vimoto, one of the other marines killed from their company I got it off I think his cousin's myspace
My fire dept. got sent down to socal on a wildfire a few years ago, and they ended up having to do protection for a lockheed martin plant down there. I guess that's the hardest any of them ever had to work on structure protection
I can't remember the 92 olympics, and the 2000 olympics sucked, but 96 was in the US and we won basketball, Michael Johnson tore it up in gold shoes, and Curt Angle did work
my first ship decommissioned in '96 so the guys who were waiting for their orders to transfer got to go drive shuttle buses and shit for the guys at the Olympics. I missed the cut off by a few weeks I was pissed. /cool story
And Kerri Strug's gold-clinching moment in gymnastics. Atlanta olympics was by far the best in my lifetime (too young for 88 and 92). Also those posting new pics please put captions as some of us might get it, but others might not. Here's a pic of Patient Zero(AIDS), Gaetan Dugas Picture of Mary Ellen McCormick whose child abuse case led to revolutionary changes in childcare:
how could i forget strugg? I remember watching that shit on a little ass tv with my sisters in-between playing sonic the hedgehog. All the kids in my neighborhood were doing gymnastics around that time, and so like 15 kids were all together watching that, the 96 olympics are probably the quintessential moment of my childhood
Genie, feral child who grew up with zero social interaction (pretty much given solitary confinement by her father)
Sieging Petersburg in 1864 Georgia (my state) getting the good dumptime dick Sieging Vicksburg I believe
Amazing the change in aircraft technology. In 30 year chunks you went from that picture to the P-51 to the F-15 to the F-22.
Real late and it may already be posted but Princip was actually late. They fucked up the assassination attempt and he stopped to get a sandwich at a local cafe. The procession got redirected and by chance it went right past the cafe that he was sitting at eating his sandwich. The rest is obviously history.
