As an old white guy, when did the term "tea" become so popular for gossip/story? Is that new or am I years behind?
https://www.merriam-webster.com/wordplay/tea-slang-meaning-origin As we see with many slang words that take off on the Internet, tea didn't originate online. But it does share an origin point with many other common terms being passed around social media. Like shade before it, tea originated in drag culture, and specifically black drag culture. When it was first popularized in general print, it could be spelled T or tea and it didn't refer to the drink. One of our early print uses of T comes from John Berendt's nonfiction best seller, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. In it, he is interviewing The Lady Chablis, a prominent drag performer in Savannah, about her dating life, and she notes that she avoids certain men because they're prone to violence when they "find out her T": "Your T?" "Yeah, my T. My thing, my business, what's goin' on in my life." — Lady Chablis quoted in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, John Berendt, 1994
After reading that, "spill the tea" has been common since I was a kid. Just feels like I've seen "tea" every day in tweets about this. Damn near every reaction video has used it.
Oh I've been open that I haven't added much new music to my library since about 2005 but this whole thing drug me in quickly.
Everyone except for dudes who steal money from their girlfriends to place parlays on basketball games got a problem with Drake it seems
Difference between guy slang and "tea / its giving / its the X for me" which is typically slang for girls and gays
Letting people get away with pedophilia for the sake of profit and THE SHAREHOLDERS is almost certainly what would happen in these sorts of closed door meetings.
yup the shooting from earlier is speculated to be someone from the weeknd’s crew in retribution for one of them getting shot by one of Aubrey’s Angels
Kendrick might’ve fabricated some shit but some stuff he said was indisputable. He used the atl rappers, stole from the weeknd, and stole the flow from those british rappers he worked with I doubt anything has been his own considering he has ghost writers too
What exactly can they even do? Are they going to shelve an artist that makes them hundreds of millions of dollars? And piss off the general public and other artists? Bc he won't write an apology over a battle rap? Lol foh. I do believe the part of them asking them to stop but anything past that is silly imo. They may have asked but I think Kendrick would laugh at it.
Something must be done about these out of control Canadiens. MOVE THE WALL TO THE OTHER BORDER AND FINISH IT.
Maybe they’re threatening to sue over the PDF file claims and Drake is hiding behind the label, defamation if there’s no proof. But Kendrick could just say free speech and ask them to prove damages? Idk just guessing, I’m obvs not a lawyer
the best way to win public perception in a rap battle is to try and litigate your way out of it also that means drake would have to prove that he isn’t a pedo and doesn’t have a kid he’s hiding and would open himself up to all sorts of things there is a reason why you don’t see many first amendment lawsuits
The problem here is that they’re on the same label technically. One of Kendrick’s labels he’s signed to is Interscope, which is just UMG
I think Kenny was pretty clear with the fact he knew he’d be taking on UMG as well. If Drake would’ve just backed off with the Dave Free shit like he told him it wouldn’t have got as nasty. Kendrick said you go low I’ll drag you to hell
Kendrick would be so fucked if the parties involved were all British. Their libel laws are a joke. There’s a movie based on a true story where Rachel Weisz character has to definitely prove that the Holocaust happened in order to not lose a libel suit where she called someone an Anti-Semite.
I’ve seen a movie where ron jeremy plays some kind of alien or something and he dies at the end with an explosion and afterwards it rains and the movie ends with them saying “that’s not rain - that’s ron”
Gotcha...yeah it'd definitely be embarrassing for Drake but also this whole thing has been embarrassing and he's already lost the streets, so if he feels a lawsuit can still help protect his core demo of suburban white girls then maybe he's less concerned about public perception from trying to weasel out of this. Same way Swifties don't care about her going after the Twitter accounts that track her PJ carbon emissions
