To be fair we haven't been relevant in over a decade so why would anyone give a fuck about anything this FO does until right now?
Look at draft picks over the last few years and the Vucevic trade. Paolo pick was announced last minute and very few had them taking Anthony Black, none taking Jett Howard
sure but they also don’t have any options with their current team might as well try to maximize a few more years before it completely blows up
why? I don't see any issue with preparing to get to life without Kawhi and/or PG if their age + injury concerns means they don't feel good about giving them max deals. there are other ways to build a team.
Kawhi is owed 50 mil through 2026. If they let harden and pg both walk they have broken Kawhi and no picks
The argument for Philly or Orlando maxing him is stronger than the clippers unless it’s strictly from the pov of opening a new arena. They should prob defer to Lue who mostly everyone agrees is a very good coach. PG has had injuries and Embiids track record is well established. It seems like Orlando would be the best place for both team and PG.
Watching Philly reconstruct an entire roster around Embiid and maxey will hopefully be really interesting. It’ll either be Morey’s magnum opus or final chapter.
What's their alternative, and how far apart are they on George between what they're comfortable with and what he wants? Hard to know what their other options are without knowing those things. But I find the notion of letting Harden/George walk to prepare for life without them pretty tough unless there's a legit plan in place to figure it out without them.
they have a brand new arena they put a ton of money into opening up next season. Hard to sell the season tickets for that new arena on “hey well I guess it’s time for us to take our medicine!”
Lue has coached Lebron Cavs and Kawhi/PG Clippers, only time he sniffed a rebuild he started 0-6 and got fired.
selling a brand new arena on aging stars with a limited ceiling sure is a choice. I wouldn't be shocked to see them be aggressive this offseason while parting with some pieces. we shall see
they have the best free agents available unless they sign lebron (they won’t) and they have no real assets to trade for anyone they’re stuck with pg and harden or having a shit team
the Nuggs fixing to get lucky due to Gobert not being able to keep it in his pants 9 months ago?!?!?!
Yeah I don’t think Lue signed up to be apart of a rebuild. No doubt he runs for the exit if that happens, if PG leaves there’s no point in keeping Russ, kawhi or harden because you’re not winning shit in the current version of the west with that group
could be worse for the clippers if they don’t want to put the worst product in the league on the court next year
It’s not ideal to start a rebuild the same season that you open up a new arena, they will have to find a way to have a competitive team next season.
Those quotes should be embarrassing for Riley, but they're the shit Heat fans love about him even though it seems at least questionable if he's even that much in control of anything anymore.
Gotta be the most likeable superstar since Shaq? I can't think of a last guy to get universal praise and love like this. Maybe Giannis
"I just tried a smoothie, God bless America" era Giannis was up there, but that was because of his charming naivete. Ant is truly funny and charismatic, Shaq is a great comparison.
That like 6 year Steph run before the NIMBY stuff? Of course, a lot of that was just nicely packaged anti-LeBron sentiments from fans/media.
Yeah I think the NIMBY shit and his wife pushing a literal nazi twitter account prob warped past thoughts on Steph for me but yeah it's prob him.
Tim duncan was likeable enough. God that man is way more anonymous than he should be. Hes top 10 OAT in my opinion
Part of the reason he's considered likeable is no one has ever considered him a threat for anything and it's all so new. Going forward is going to be different. There was a time people viewed Embiid and Durant like this. Others, too.
