You can always improve the pen. The pen is getting overworked... Starters need to start extending starts. Kyle to the IL helps, Steele returning from the IL is also a big step in the right direction.
It’s going to be interesting to see what we do with the rotation come next year. We could have Steele, Imanaga, Wicks, Assad, Taillon, Brown, and Horton vying for spots. I wonder if Taillon has a decent bounce back season that we try and move him this offseason.
I think Brown may be better for the pen... but time will tell. Brown v Tailon is probably the convo to be had next year... would imagine Tailon could be trade bait this deadline in a package to improve elsewhere.
Baseball America updated their top 100 prospects and Jeferson Rojas came in at 47. He’s destroying high A ball as a 19 year old. He honestly is probably the most valuable prospect in our organization. If he can play a legit SS he may be a superstar.
Wesneski seems to have gotten his “yips” figured out. It’s pretty impressive the amount of quality pitching we seemed to have accumulated.
Too bad Alzolay is wasting performances left and right...in addition to the offense clearly missing Suzuki and Cody.
Yeah, not really sure what to do with Alzolay. He’s out of options so we can’t send him down to AAA unless he accepts the assignment. It seems like it’s a mental thing like Wesneski dealt with last year.
I mean...just because it's not Ross anymore, doesn't mean someone else isn't still calling lots of the shots.
they didn’t go poach one of the best managers in the game for the GM to coach. Counsel wouldn’t have come here if that’s the case
Illini is stuck in the 80s... Managers get very little say. I'm sure Craig has more than most... but they are working hand in hand with the front office and the analytic department on all types of shit for game day scenarios.
Any manager that thinks they have full autonomy on game day decisions is about to get fired. See Mike Schildt.
One moment I think Ben Brown can be top of the rotation starter. The next I think he can be an elite closer. I like Ben Brown. He’s electric.
I don't know if anyone remembers Yonathan Perlaza, but I found it odd that the Cubs just straight up cut him after last season, given his numbers were very good. Well...he's got an OPS over 1.000 through 38 games in Korea. Good for him.
Yeah I’m sure it’s not the career path he necessarily wanted but I think he can be an elite high leverage reliever for them.
Still at the top of the division... Just get healthy before the deadline so we can see what this team is like in full gear.
