Lol at Shams and the Phoenix guy having an article blaming Vogel ready to drop after the sweep. #ThisLeague is so predictable on this shit it's hilarious.
Since Vogel won a title he has had: Lebron and AD get hurt in the same season for extended time after starting the season as the best team in the league. Had LeGM decide the team needed to shake things up instead of you know just AD and Lebron being healthy and traded their 3 and D guys to Washington for Westbrook. Got fired because of Westbrook. Went to Phoenix who immediately traded Paul and every asset they had for the other aging scorer with an attitude on Washington with Beal. He could coach in China next and there would probably be a trade with the Cangzhou Mighty Lions involving Washington for Jordan Poole
Still amazed at that Shams nonsense. Vogel yells at his players after they don't care and get embarrassed multiple times while players allegedly have to keep themselves from laughing at him. And Shams thinks Vogel is the one who looks bad coming out of that?
Didn’t that sound like his “article” came straight from Beal’s agent? I’m not shocked they mis-read the reaction
That ad is so bad that I can feel public sentiment shifting against my team and I don't like it. We're quickly becoming the villains of the playoffs just because of that fuckin commercial
Philly should have enough cap space this off-season to just absorb Kevin Durant's contract. I think they have five firsts available to trade. Just one of those things to think about.
Sure but Frank Vogel has always been a mediocre to bad head coach and the hire was always a headscratcher in the first place
Really thought Beal just needed a change of scenery this summer to return to any sort of star form. Pretty clear he just wanted his next(last?) big check and to gtfo of DC but still be the same shithead.
Well that’s an interesting idea. Hey why don’t they just draft Bronny in the first round and get his papa on a team friendly deal too. It’d be like the expendables of super teams.
Taking Ryen Rusillos side feels awful here but he mentioned today “yeah we heard that in LA and now you have Darvin Ham. Congrats.” plus Vogel is on a 6mm contract. Ishbia has money but he’s not lighting that much on fire is he
I think a lot of it makes sense when you see how he grew his business too, unethical as fuck and shortcuts everywhere. Only basketball isn’t that and he really thought he’s just too smart for everyone
Now you know what the wrestling thread is like. Just random twitter posts from Shawn that say little to nothing.
Privilege boy who thinks he knows ball because he played in college is like the worst case scenario for a meddling owner
So this is all a bunch of shitty backstabbing, but every time I watched them (this was not that much) there were a shocking number of possessions where KD would just stand in the corner for 22 seconds. I still think Vogel is an above average coach, but they probably should have just leaned into raining nuclear fire on offense every night and hired a coach who knows how to score.
better those here than the jokes he makes on the Coli about wanting to sexually assault the women wrestlers
Think some of it is also kind of some weird timing. The Suns were winning in spite of the mess they were with ownership and front office before he got there. Then he comes in and it's like "Kevin Durant wants to play for your team. Do you want him?" The history of the league says that's a pretty good idea. It just hasn't worked. The Beal stuff was dumb. As was firing Monty because now I'm stuck with his dumb ass and I wish I wasn't.
the Westbrook trade fucked him and everything else in LA but he didn’t help his cause by being so committed to his defense that he was still giving major minutes to Avery Bradley and DeAndre Jordan at the end. Dude can coach defense but he has 0 concept of what constitutes a good modern day offense
Durant probably wasn't used in the way someone like him should be used, but he pushed his way out of Brooklyn specifically to play with Booker in Phoenix. And he seemingly wanted Beal last summer, right? How did he think he was going to be used when the team has no point guard and the primary ball handlers are used to chucking it 20x a game?
Suns were bottom quarter in the league in terms of pick and rolls so it doesn’t even make sense with respect to his role.
He tried to force his way out of Brooklyn after Kyrie opted into his deal in the summer of 22. Brooklyn told him no. Then he did it again before the deadline.
I forgot about that. Then he re-committed then Kyrie forced his way out again that whole situation was fucked to begin with 3 players that will force their way out at any given moment. Idk if it’s on KD, Kyrie, or Harden. Probably a mix of all 3
He "re-committed" because the Nets told him they weren't going to trade him and he had no other choice at the time.
I don't know what you're going for here, but yes, he did in fact play games for the Nets instead of faking injuries and tanking games.
I’m not saying he was right, but I’m just saying the thing in Brooklyn wasn’t entirely his fault. Kyrie lost his fucking mind and Harden did what Harden does. At least KD played until Kyrie pushed himself out for good. They were all to blame. Don’t think it’s fair to put it all on him
I didn't put all of the blame on him for whatever happened in Brooklyn. Or imply anything close to that. I said he pushed his way out of Brooklyn to the Suns, who he specifically wanted to play for. And that he demanded a trade out of Brooklyn in the summer of 2022, but the Nets wouldn't trade him then. Because it's kind of indisputable that all of those things happened.
Since the bubble title Vogel has had a cursed run of being the fall guy after his GM makes dumb moves
Durant let opinions get to him and it has been a mess ever since w decision making. Brooklyn could have worked but he had the worst luck w circumstances
Honestly, I started the year hating him but blamed him less and less as it went on. It’s obvious the problems were more roster and ego based. Durant complaining about role when he’s never changed a thing about what he does is a bit rich. No reliable PG and a bunch of guys used to getting their own shots is a monster Vogel couldn’t do much about.
The thing about Vogel imo is that he has never really made any of his players better like he values his “system” over everything
and he is incredibly poor at managing star players which should be pretty important when you have most of your money tied up in 2.5 of them
