Werner Herzog did a documentary on one of them. Wings of Hope, I believe.

Apparently she was strapped in her seat and her row of three chairs was spiraling downwards. She credited that for slowing the freefall. I think the rainforest canopy helped slow the fall a bit, too.

Worth a watch.

 

A couple of people actually survived the break up and crash of Pan Am 103 (idk how) but died before medical help arrived.

I'm watching on my phone and because the video is so small I thought that was a real sized airplane until it smacked the dude in the head.
