Rodgers was like 39 and coming off two down years filled with injuries. Cousins was signed a month ago.
Based on production and data 6 qbs going round 1 makes sense... I think who selected them and where they selected them is the issue. I like Nix over Penix. Both should've gone R1... just not 8th and the match with the Falcons can't be legitimately justified. My QB Board 1) Williams 2) Maye 3) JJ 4) Daniels 5) Nix 6) Penix
I think the plan is to have Penix learn under Cousins until Cousins hangs it up. Then Penix will play a couple of season and he'll retire.
I'm surprised that I haven't seen a lot of belichick commentary from yesterday shared. Did anyone watch that channel?
his/their feed was ahead of my NFL Network feed by a solid amount so I didn’t wanna post too much about it and potentially spoil picks. he broke down film in a digestible way for a casual viewer and he was pretty engaging, I thought he rolled with the punches well given how whacky/douchey Pat’s crew can be.
predicting qb success is impossible and each of the non-CALEB! guys have deep flaws i wouldn't be shocked if Nix finds success. he does a lot of things right and was excellent for two years for us.
the people saying he wasn’t mad in this exchange simply don’t know ball taking the hat off is a classic sign that he’s more mad than any human being has ever been. old man code for “i am seething mad”
eh, going to edit this as i don't want to come off like i thin nix is going to be really good. i have no idea if that's the case and would probably bet against it. i'm just not sure why people think nix is definitely worse than QB2-QB5. i don't personally think there's a huge separation between any of them in terms of long-term outlook.
this is good stuff, I watched NFLN last night but may have to do this tonight. what I saw of Saban was decent too
You guys kept the training wheels on your offense and it worked out great for y'all. I understand defending your boy but the things he did in Oregon are not going to translate well to the NFL.
If Nix is a backup caliber QB and he was taken 12th, that's about as bad as a pick as possible. no need to worry if another pick was slightly worse. that's disaster stuff for Denver. That is Drew Lock 2.0
Don’t disagree. Taking Penix, who will be worse than Nix, at 8th, when you just signed Cousins is still worse. Lots of terrible picks yesterday.
yeah, maybe. but maybe your perspective on nix is based on a viral tweet with misinformation from a few months ago when lsu fans wanted daniels to get the heisman?
Yes. I cancelled my sub to Sling, so I had to watch on espn+ and it was my only source, other than siriusxm. I was toggling between both, but I thought he was great and had a good sense of humor. Provided a few good stories and had analysis on most players and you can sort of tell who he liked more than others. I don't love the guy, but it was cool to see how some guests were showing reverence
it’s gonna take another 2-3 season ending injures for penix before i entertain the thought of him being worse than nix
the fact that he’s objectively a better qb than bo nix is probably the biggest thing i like about him. the second thing i really like about him is how he’s not bo nix
Nah fuck that, he was right to call Parsons out on that. Dude loves to talk shit but never backs it up when it matters
I blame NFL GMs for being so bad at their jobs that we're arguing Nix vs Penix right now after the first round.
I miss the all-day affair that was the draft. The final day being rounds 4 thru 7 doesn't hit as good given how they've broken it up.
The Tepper/MJ combo might have been the worst combined professional sports ownership situation in human history
One isn't going to play until he's like 27 and the other is going to get Sean Payton fired. What exactly is there to argue about?
The funniest thing about the draft is you have months to prepare but you still have to wait 10 minutes between picks
