The end of almost every race has been pretty terrible. Idk if it's the difference in cars or the air coming off them but the entire field has a 2+ second gap. 4+ second gap between entire top 5. There's just no racing on track at all, even in the midfield. +12, +5, +4, +10, +3, +7, +7, +8 for the top 8. The only battle was for 14th.
Absolutely strolls fault. He gunned it into the back of ric. Nice run by Norris, some nice passing in turn 6 as well. Max with a 5 second lead after 5 laps, ha
Yep. One of the double-edged swords of getting a safety car - it bunches everyone up, but then puts 90% of the cars on the same strategy for the rest of the race.
Lance endearing himself to Australians everywhere by taking Danny Ric out and ruining Oscar's race. Good on ya mate.
Laaanndddoooooo!!!! Damn good race again. It's too much to ask for him/McLaren to be competitive with Max at this point but if they can consistently be at or above the 2nd RB then that'll do. Can we just get Stroll out of an F1 seat for the love of God?!? If you're gonna be shit, at least take some level of accountability.
Was glad to see Lando recover from that Sprint, also looked like he fixed some settings that helped his race pace a good bit.
What is this? Year 8 or 9? and still doing dumb shit. What an entitled little nepo baby. Imagine AM with Alonso and Sainz.
MV has a dedicated flight tracker on twitter (fuck you elon) i follow for shits and gigs. looks like he can get 5000 miles on it
Someone needs to check his math. That or we gotta work on getting better connections Fernando. Flight time from Madrid to Shanghai is roughly 12 hours and 45 minutes. My guess is he’s stopping someone like Dubai and spending the night. Not sure why he’d do that, but seems to be the only way to make the math work.
All for the expansion. I’d personally like to see it taken to at least 15th, since that is the first major cut line of the competition. Ideally down to 19th (or 21st if they add a team) while needing to finish on track for points.
I think 12th is fine if they stay at 20 cars, if we get to 22 then 14th. I saw someone recommend giving every car that finishes the race 1 point and I don't love that idea because it would cause drivers to be too careful.
Incentivizing staying on track vs retiring over some minor issue would have some interesting strategic implications re: cost cap as well. Like are some points worth burning $20k on fully damaging a part or do we pull off and save the $? I just have never liked the idea that you can get passed in a battle for 10th on the last lap and come out essentially the same as the bozo in 20th that was a full 3 minutes behind you. Also like the idea of every position counting for something, even if you like double the points for P 1-10 and then count down 9-1 for the back half or something to really reward a top 10 vs a bottom 10.
one of the announcers was arguing for this during the race last weekend and i was convinced. their argument was that every driver who finishes getting points would result in more passing and fighting for position across every position.
You have to do a full taper and not have any two finishing positions get the same points for that to work
Timing of obscure blue livery clarified: https://press.hp.com/us/en/press-kits/2024/scuderia-ferrari-hp.html
Yet another huge American multi-national corporation investing big money in F1. There's gonna be more American teams entering F1 in one way or another in the future. Say what you will about American business, capitalism, influence, etc. but it's better than even more Saudi influenced money put into the sport.
Ok is it really better than Saudi money? I think you can make the argument that they are all the same.
Also Scuderia Ferrari HP is a dumb fucking name. When it comes to the Scuderia, one only needs to ask whether Enzo would approve. I get the feeling that the old man would not want an American brand next to his team’s name.
Yea adding HP to the name is gross. It's like HP Yankee Stadium or some shit. Some things are just too storied to have a fucking corporation added to the name. Slap the logo on the car and call it a day.
Yes, IvanTheTerrible, I believe influence and money from an organization that has to abide by laws and regulations and is publicly traded is favorable compared to influence and money from a government that openly discriminates women, executes LGBTQ individuals, doesn't recognize free speech or freedom of the press, and has many more documented human rights violations.
Watching old races and noticed there were 22 drivers on the grid. Were the rules and regulations changed to 20?
Not a fan of the Ferrari name change... You got to imagine that the team got an enormous bag from HP. With that said it's always going to be Ferrari so I shouldn't be as irritated by the name change as I am.
No, McLaren is as well: https://us.motorsport.com/f1/news/mclaren-first-f1-2024-upgrade-package-miami/10601242/
