fair or not, he doesn't play enough to have earned the reputation as the best defender even though he's obviously elite. this was his first time playing 65+ games since 2017-18. if he had more seasons like this one, he'd have a DPOY award.
Kuminga is too young to be Tobias Harris, imo. He might turn into Tobias Harris but he's not that right now. This was his first year of real playing time. Nurkic doesn't really fit the mold at all, imo. I never feel like his stats are empty. I'm not going to go to bat for BI but he's better than everyone else on the list.
My other thing with that list is that if you're making a list of the league's ineffectual and underachieving players that have loser stink, how is Ayton not the first name you come up with. His existence is offensive to me.
I don't really understand what "just Tobias Harris" means. Because comping at least half that list to Harris feels like a real compliment to them, but it seems like I'm playing the game incorrectly by thinking that.
I took it as empty stat getters who won't/don't actually contribute to winning or play up to their stats when the lights are brightest
I think their pay has to be taken into account there. If they’re paid like role players and they’re doing that, good on them. Harris has, at least once, been paid like a star and clearly isn’t one.
