Blessing in disguise. Now you can use that money on a player that will have a bigger impact on the game.
I honestly have no idea, it was a $100 so whatever Miami raised about $60k to keep him from going to Oregon the first time. Well clearly wasn’t enough to stop Bama hopefully the money comes back to us somehow abs can go to another kid
I still can't believe you bought a kicker for 60k as a mac program. That has to be enough to get a Power 5 caliber player at a position of higher value.
MAC schools are just gonna keep doing what they do, take developmental or kids with a few flags on em and transfers from bigger schools that are on their last shot honestly selling kids on the idea that you can come here and develop a couple years and then take a shot at power conf. Is probably how they can somewhat survive
prime example (I'm sorry, region lol) https://247sports.com/Player/Javon-Hammonds-46137088/ this kid could be really damn good if he stays focused and I know for a fact that every school in the midwest is watching to see how he handles himself
It would be awesome if the sport could develop a structure somehow similar to European footy where if the smaller program does develop a guy like this, they can collect a buyout or transfer fee. Cant wait to see who the CFB Dortmund is going to be
we didn’t buy him, he was already at Miami he’s a rich kid from Cincy, he wanted to stay but wanted some bread too because Oregon was offering him way more obviously Bama got him later on but my guess is he would’ve gone to Oregon had the school not been in Oregon
you still spent 60k on a kicker, which I would assume is your highest NIL payout on the team. That 60k could be much better spent on a QB.
If/when they have a QB big schools want they'll probably raise the money (which wont be enough) MAC schools aren't spending money on transfers
I am sure there is a Power 5 QB out there riding the bench who would take 60k to go start for a year to try to raise his status before jumping back into the portal.
Is there a European soccer equivalent to Texas Am? Virtually outspends everyone with nothing ever to show for it? Saudi league teams?
why the fuck would they light money on fire like that? These are programs with limited resources what you're talking about applies to schools that can wipe their asses with 100K
who said light money on fire? I'm saying find a guy who looked good in limited minutes. Not a guy with zero tape.
yeah that shits gonna start at around 150 and likely go higher 60K wouldn't even get a call back unless he's originally from the miami valley
Come on man, I'm not saying go get Bama's backup that is a former 5*. I'm saying go get someone like Jacurri Brown who clearly has some talent but isn't good enough to play at UM but could go to a MAC school and make plays on his athletic ability alone.
Someone like Brown is almost certainly going to get more than $60k though. That’s a $100k plus kind of guy.
goes back to my lighting money on fire comment 60k for jaccuri brown = you might as well shred it and mix it in with the horse feed for the equestrian shit down the street
Any MAC school want to come grab Deacon Hill from us? I'm sure he would take 60k and he has P2 starting experience*. *Don't look up his stats, just wins baby.
I think some are underestimating the amount of stupid money being thrown around here After Noah Kim beat out Payton Thorne and was named the MSU starting QB last year, he was allegedly making 300k in NIL. No one knows who he is because he’s absolute dog shit and now transferred to Coastal Carolina even shitty players are getting paid at premium positions
Exactly my point. Even a shitty backup is making between $100k-$300k at a P5 school. To think you can get anyone worth a damn at 60k is just not reasonable.
When we get to the final form that includes employee contracts, we need transfer fees between athletic departments. You want Miami (OH)'s kicker? You're paying him 100k? You also pay 50%(?) to Miami's athletic budget.
