Even flipping around a few more tracks, every song I feel like something I've heard before but can't place it. Not necessarily in a bad way, enjoying the tunes, but I feel so musically confused right now. Something I'd enjoy seeing in the afternoon at a festival for sure.
26 minute Kiss From Rose cover by Eggy 3/14/24 is a lot of fun. Weird song to take to funk jams, but they did it and did it exceptionally
Going to start catching them a little more. When I’m looking for this kind of jamming, I’ve been going to them a lot more often lately. A lot different than DD. They’re a bluegrass/country man’s jam band.
seeing Eggy again next Friday. For my taste it’s the the best thing touring. for anyone interested here is nugs list I’ve been building Hope some enjoy https://2nu.gs/4cA2Zsy
Oh and if anyone dabbles into my nugs list let me know what you like, etc. always good times discussing tunes
Eggy premiering another pro shot show tonight. Guys have been gaining a lot of attention and pushing more free content now. Not sure who their management is, but the marketing l, etc is very similar to Goose and what they were doing a few a years back. Wouldn’t be shocked if it’s the same team
She really wanted to see that 3 day run of Patti LaBelle with the symphony. Spoiler or she did Drake and J. Cole on the 8th and Pantera on the 9th
For the Sonos crew. Not sure if you know about the Soro app. It allows you to integrate Sonos app setting changes (group/ungroup rooms, surround, sub, EQ settings etc) into iOS shortcuts. Then they can be included in a shortcuts widget or have Siri do the action.
Also Billy Strings guested with Primus last night… no recording policy so doubt we get any fan shot video
Gonna give it a listen, but it’s wild how much they have fallen off for me since coming out of the pandemic. Not much, but Billy put a little clip on his Instagram story from someone in the audience.
I'm currently on the second release (4/8) of their 4 night NY run. Setlists must be back loaded, at least based on my favs.
I saw this show the night before. No Billy obviously but it was a really fun and unique experience. I had never even really listened to Puscifer before, but they were great. I'm a pretty casual Primus fan too and they played most of their zingers. Really only went because the venue is really close my house and got a free ticket, but I would highly recommend this show to anyone if it's close or you're a fan of any of the bands.
Here's Goose x Vampire Weekend for those curious. Gen-X Cops>Cape Cod was the jam. Haven't gotten to listen yet so I have no opinion yet.
Happy 25th birthday to one of the greatest 3-night runs in music history. And make sure you’re an organ donor! For some reason, this clip doesn’t have the Hello Old Friends opener with Grahame and Brian, so I’m including it below. Gives me chills every time hearing the crowd react to it all.
The defining pinnacle of the “jamband” era. Treys line riding out of the Shakedown break at 2:49:15 gives me chills everytime. Pure flow.
great shows. And yes the opener was incredible because this show was Phil’s first back after transplant. Having his sons on stage and doing it is awesome and very moving given the context, etc
For food, Marjie’s Grill is awesome. Can’t recommend it enough if you’ve never been. Same with Mr. Mao. Jazz fest rules, have a blast. There’s literally no wrong way to do it. Kimock is one of my favorite guitarists of all time, so I’d have him higher but music is so subjective and you know your shit. Donato and Porter is right up my alley, too.
SK's solo (with Trey weaving licks in and out) in franklin's tower on 4/16 will forever be one of my favorite passages of music ever. 30:30ish here: Spoiler
I think your choices align with what I would do, besides Danato. I would go there. I love Kimock, but honestly found Voodoo Dead boring when I saw them
Here are the first weekend late night grids for Jazz Fest. Melvin Seals and JGB to me would be a must, but if you looking for something different Lyrics Born is great hip hop. http://www.jazzfestgrids.com/first_weekend/
Yeah, I love Jazz Fest and haven't been in a few years. Getting to town this Friday and sticking around for 10 days. Actually going to a wedding next Thursday at the festival. A friend/acquaintance is getting married on the gospel stage Thursday afternoon (before WSP). If I hadn't seen Donato just last week, I'd be there. Good call on Melvin Seals and JGB - need to add him to the list and further complicate things. Donald Harrison is amazing and I can't catch the Freqinauts show on Monday, which is why Eddie Roberts + Harrison on Thursday are #1. Otherwise I'd be going to the leaf for George and Kraz. I still might. Think I'm going to buy tickets tonight to the 12:30 AM Saturday night/Sunday morning NMS show. And to Current Futures, which will definitely fuck.
Eggy Is cooking so good. Whole show dope, but the one more dance is smoking. For Nugs subscribers https://2nu.gs/3U5P9Wi
T’s & P’s for all those spun phans at the Sphere tonight. Legitimately concerned about people plummeting to their death.
Yeah, at some point I was talking to someone who had seen U2 (or maybe postcard from earth? can't remember) there and told me roughly the same thing --- it's a completely disorienting space, particularly how high it is, and people on heavy psychedelics might get themselves into some trouble
