    Im 35...

I dont really remember the OJ trial or chase. I just didnt pay attention to news back then (being 6 and all). The names OJ, Jonny Cochran vaguely ring a bell but thats it

My older brother has 2 years on me, he does remember it. he said even our parents were glued to the TV that whole case. you can imagine how little time a couple of African immigrants had for American pop culture

I was working as an undergrad at a sport bar/restaurant, but not working that night. The crowd there for the game stayed, and management put up the OJ coverage on the screens.

90-95 million Americans watched it live, over 1/3 of the population at the time.

he murdered two people, lived off the infamy of the case, paid back a very tiny amount of the civil suit he lost filed on behalf of the victims, went so far as to write a fucking book theorizing who murdered them (spoiler alert: it was OJ) and set up his estate so the Browns and Goldmans would have difficulty collecting, the executor of his estate is vowing the Goldmans will never see a dime if he has anything to say, and his family is sitting around waiting to collect.

None of this has anything to do with you. I read the article and it doesn’t move the needle for me in any direction. There are probably millions of people worse than him and your irrational hatred of him after 30 years is weird . I won’t here but I’ve always used OJ as a litmus test

this is so on the nose for you it's hilarious. you look for race everywhere you go, it defines every decision you make and every opinion you have and you bring it up every single chance you get on this board to the point it's actually nauseating and multiple people by now have made you aware of this but you're incapable of seeing otherwise. that's a litmus test in and of itself, champ. don't be a pussy about this either, none of this "I won't here" bullshit, be a man and say it. you drag race into everything on this board, don't be bitch-made here.

you're so desperate to see race at every turn you can't even comprehend a multiple murderer chalking up tee times and attempting to directly profit off his murders as anything than "oh, there goes that silly OJ". there's an entire generation of people who only knew OJ as "the guy who got away with murder" and he spent the later years of his life profiting off that status. him being black doesn't have a fucking thing to do with it, I find what he did vile and the people who treated him as a celebrity for it to be disgusting.

I wouldn't have said word one if OJ spent these last 30 years out of sight and out of mind.

like man, if you want to disagree that's fine but the insinuation that the only reason I could possibly hate OJ this much is because I hate black people is not only dumb but I find it insulting. there's 900k people who followed him on Twitter. do you remember the gigantic hoopla him signing up for Twitter caused? how people flocked to him and welcomed him and cheered him for being on social media? stuff like that makes me sick to my stomach.

I signed up to this website minutes after you did, Danny (you're #48, I'm #53). after fifteen years, you damn sure should have an opinion by now on whether or not you think I'm racist and "he hates OJ a little too much" shouldn't be what shakes the needle.

a white guy preaching to me about how I should feel about race is hilarious especially when I said I wasn’t going to use it in this situation. I was attempting to give you the benefit of the doubt but maybe you feel a little guilty about something. Go off my guy. I hope this is cathartic for you. Also I honestly don’t care what any white person thinks about my opinion on race in America. You don’t have the lived experience I have and your opinion on that to me is moot.

I'm sure the dislike of OJ for some is race related, but the "there's probably millions of worse people than him" is a little weird when very few of them are as well known as him. He's far down my list after guys like Trump and Elon but I do think he was a pretty shitty person. He was a massive celebrity prior to the murders so of course the coverage of the case was massive. There's lots of people out there that killed people that I have no idea about bc they were Joe Random, not NFL HOF'ers. He's not the worst person ever but he's one of the worse well-known people of our lifetimes.

What made the OJ Simpson case resonate with the racists was that he was one of the first non-threatening black men to capture corporate advertising.

In the early to mid-80’s, you basically have Bill Cosby and OJ Simpson with white America eating out of their hand.

OJ did rental car commercials, AMEX, everything.

    Then he killed his wife.

    It was fascinating theatre.

of course not but I have found a correlation of how angry someone gets about this with certain beliefs. I’m not saying that if you’re white and you believe he is guilty you’re racist.

That's fair. I think it's tough to judge someone off this case alone. Like I said above, it's the most well known murder case of our lifetimes. Thinking more strongly about this case than some random triple murder in Iowa doesn't really mean much imo. He was one of the most famous people in the country before the murders, of course people are going to have a stronger opinion bc they know him and the case infinitely more than others.

Of course he was guilty, and a terribly shitty human being.

That doesn’t make anyone who thinks that racist.

It’s the vitriol that some whites showed for the verdict. The racists internalized it and then boiled with outrage.

I think he was guilty. I think he was a POS. Look for the OJ twitter thread I think I expressed those sentiments. I just think the anger SP has is irrationally weird. To say I’m afraid to express my opinion is lol worthy. I also said I used it in the past and I did but I didn’t here mostly because I don’t think he is racist I just think he is weird in this case.

Yea I still think it's tough to judge off just this case. Yes, for some it was the racial component. For others, it's just the biggest murder case of our lifetimes. Judging someone off just the biggest murder case of our lifetime seems like a bad litmus test imo.

For some I think it's just the biggest court case of our lifetime and one we know infinitely more about than any other case. Not really surprising someone will feel more strongly about a case they know more about.

Personly I think he sucks sucked but my give a fuck is about a 2 bc it didn't affect my world at all. It was fascinating to watch and I do think he sucks sucked but I'm not getting worked up over it.

I'm about a year older than you, youngblood. I was actually born on Hitler's birthday, April 20th. So I was turning 8 when a domestic white terrorist decided he hated America so much the Oklahoma City bombing happened. And 11, when Columbine happened.

Kids today wont know what it is like to have your trapper keeper cut holes in your plastic backpack. So all your shit just falls out on the bus.
