We were at 90%. Got a bit darker but nothing crazy. In 2017 we were in the 100% zone and that was quite a bit cooler. I remember the crickets and fireflies getting confused.

 

I dunno about that.

Speaking about calculators being off, was anyone else surprised at how NASA was wrong on so many totality timings? I was watching their live stream for the last two hours, and they would take the clock off the screen anytime they missed by more than 30 seconds (just so they didn’t look bad I’m assuming)

Their computer models are using an outdated computation that misses by a few thousand feet.

Totality was p sick honestly. Lake was no nearly as bad as expected, traffic going home ok so far.

 

Jealous of all the cool pics people got. We had full cloud coverage in hill country Texas today so I decided to go to the gym. Walking to my car, all the dogs and birds on my street went crazy and then they all got dead quiet and it got almost pitch black. Couldn’t hear anything by my car.

didn’t get to see anything cool but I did feel like the main character in a Stephen King book for 90 seconds so that’s neat

 

I can definitely see why ancient civilizations had a good/bad time during these things.

is this an accurate projection for 20 years from now? If so, Denver, SLC, Vegas, rise up! Almost all of Florida subsumed by the total eclipse too.

TiL I’m a shitty eclipse photographer. I even have one of those filter things but couldn’t get anything to look good.

 

honestly, there were thousands of really good photographers, government entities, and astrological enthusiasts with nice equipment taking millions of photos and videos today. just put the phone down after one try.

enjoying all the time-lapse videos of cities like Buffalo and Austin during totality.

I will bet the 2045 eclipse in florida is 99% cloud coverage

 

talked to one of my genius customers last week and somehow the eclipse got brought up. "how long is it going to last, like 2-3 days?"

 

I figured out to tear up a pair of glasses and stick them in my phone case to cover the lens, my pics are still shit. I'll enjoy the pros work.

 

Something about watching it from a boat because Florida will be underwater by then.

 

As long as Florida hasn't been made uninhabitable by climate change or facism by then, 2045 is finna be lit!
