because we're damn near predisposed to conspiracy on a base level. life is boring and people seek every avenue possible to make it fun and intriguing. everyone loves to know a secret, they love to know an inside joke, they love the feeling that comes with knowing something that other people don't. because the reality of "she didn't feel like making an appearance before she felt ready" is boring and people hate boring so your brain just starts going "there has to be a better reason" and off it goes imagining scenarios and having fun. if she makes a statement to address the rumors, she's addressing the loons. Parliament isn't asking her whereabouts. foreign governments aren't expressing concern. her parents aren't in the paper begging for answers. it's just the bored people and/or the crazy people and she doesn't owe those people an answer.
It's a tad interesting that seemingly no one in LA remotely cares about the royal family but when I talk to friends in the Southeast they are very invested.

I have yet to see them since their move - I've met Harry twice in Vegas but I've never seen them at an event or anything in LA. I think they had a heavy expectation of being immediately famous here and that just didn't pan out.
