I truly believe you could find a Seinfeld gif that would be an appropriate response to just about anything.
I was at a resort last week and this woman got in the jacuzzi, I said I was from Texas, she was from manhattan yada yada. She then went off on how New York was a shitshow now because of all the migrants coming in. She was glad Abbott was doing it though so every one could see what Texas has been dealing with. Of course she was originally from Dallas originally so predestined to be a huge piece of shit. It was great that she thought she could really let it fly the moment I said Texas though.
Major Asset Seizure Likely as Trump Can't Afford Bond for NY Fraud Case "Trump owes this money because he fraudulently misrepresented the value of his assets—and now (oops) apparently no one will accept those assets as collateral." JULIA CONLEY Mar 18, 2024 Less than a month after New York Attorney General Letitia James said she would be willing to seize former Republican President Donald Trump's assets if he is unable to pay the $464 million required by last month's judgment in his civil fraud case, Trump's lawyers disclosed in court filings Monday that he had failed to secure a bond for the amount. In the nearly 5,000-page filing, lawyers for Trump said it has proven a "practical impossibility" for Trump to secure a bond from any financial institutions in the state, as "about 30 surety companies" have refused to accept assets including real estate as collateral and have demanded cash and other liquid assets instead. To get the institutions to agree to cover that $464 million judgment if Trump loses his appeal and fails to pay the state, he would have to pledge more than $550 million as collateral—"a sum he simply does not have," reportedThe New York Times, despite his frequent boasting of his wealth and business prowess. Trump himself was ordered to pay $454 million; the remainder was demanded from his sons, Donald Trump, Jr. and Eric Trump. A Times analysis found earlier this month that Trump has only about $350 million in cash. Spoiler James has given Trump until March 25 to pay the judgment, which was announced last month as New York State Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron found the former president and his real estate empire, the Trump Organization, had committed "repeated and persistent fraud," including by falsifying financial statements by as much as $2.2 billion. "It wouldn't surprise me if lenders are refusing real estate as collateral due to his lying about their value," said attorney Blake Allen. The attorney general said last month that regardless of Trump's difficulty in securing the bond, her office is "prepared to make sure that the judgment is paid to New Yorkers" and suggested she would pursue asset seizure. "I look at 40 Wall Street each and every day," James toldABC News, referring to one of Trump's buildings in New York's Financial District. James hasn't publicly stated what other Trump assets she would potentially seize from the presumptive Republican presidential candidate. On Monday, Trump asked an appeals court to issue a stay on the judgment, pausing enforcement while his appeal proceeds, or to accept just $100 million. In addition to potentially levying and selling Trump's assets, Syracuse University law professor Gregory Germain toldThe Associated Press last month, James' office could "lien his real property, and garnish anyone who owes him money."
Im assuming it will take years of legal appeals for him to actually lose any property. At this point all that matters for Trump is the clock continues to count down to November, after which all this goes away and everyone involved goes directly to the gulag.
Donald Trump, who has a long history or praising Hitler and is about to losing his shirt, also said some unsavory things about the Jews last night.
So thinking about the assets that would get seized in NY and who determines their worth now and I would imagine most are highly leveraged with bank liens. How exactly does that work in terms of deciding how much to take and the banks role in it?
No, it just means they can start seizing his stuff during the appeals process if he doesn’t post the bond
Putin is going to give him the money, get him elected and make him suck his dick in front of a stadium full of people
Trump literally testified that he had $400 million in cash. His defense to the fraud case was that he didn’t overinflate the value of his properties. It’s driving me crazy that every headline isn’t mentioning this.
I love that the situation Trump is currently in is all because of the smart questions that AOC asked Michael Cohen. iirc there was a lot of performative politics by Dems in that hearing that would have never really led anywhere, but she took a different, more pragmatic approach.
I was wondering if he would run into trouble using that language. I don't recall but did he say convicted of rape versus you raped someone, because the first would probably be more problematic and I can see how Trump would win that case. All that said, for practical reasons this doesn't seem like a great move for him unless he really needs that ABC money to survive.
I thought he carefully said the he was found "liable" for rape as his actions fall under the statutory definition and I think the Judge in the appeal said something to that effect as well.
Have we discussed the batshit insane move of saluting and playing a montage commemorating the people serving time for Jan 6th How the fuck is he allowed to be on the ballot? (Oh bc he appointed the people that ok’ed it!)
Saluting people CONVICTED OF INSURRECTION should not be okay. Interesting that his strongest supporters are the same people that wave the confederate flag. That’s the flag for the people that fought against, and lost, the United States in case anyone had forgotten that small blip in our nation’s history.
Currently listening to Behind the Bastards episodes on Robert E Lee and started Manhunt on Apple TV last night. All up in some Civil War stuff right now.
