Bennington, NE and the very rich having a problem spending a few more dollars on a new school while they sit next to their $2 million dollar homes and the kids are in a school that is maxed out and growing rapidly, is a prime example. Ricketts and Pillen have cut about what, $50 million from the university? Cut programs and research that kept/brought students to the state and some of those students go on to do great things. And what usually comes with these kids growing up and doing great things? They become rich as fuck and donate to their alumni. And tight-fisted, egocentric boosters who care more about the seating arrangements at the tradition coalition banquet than actual success. That's why we've still got an interim president, admin bailing like rats off a burning ship, and zero conference titles since I was in middle school. Matt Rhule's all we got. The leadership at Nebraska is undoubtedly shitty, but how much could have possibly changed between now and when Trev signed his extension? It was reported earlier that he’s been search for other jobs for awhile. Him signing a contract extension doesn’t mean that he was wanting to keep the Nebraska job as much as he was just looking to increase/extend his salary until he found his next job. This state and fanbase has a deep-seated belief that 1) local boys are best and 2) local boys “owe” us something. Neither are conducive to winning in the national landscape of college sports and we are still figuring that out nearly 25 years too late.
