6th place in the east in both points and point percentage. Top wildcard spot with 3 points and game in hand over Tampa. 8 points clear of 9th place but the Caps have two games in hand. We have 6 more ROW though if it came down to a tiebreak.
Was trying to figure out what we look like with Kane and Perron both back next season. This is what I came up with as a result: My assumptions to get there: Seider: 8x8.53 Kane: 2x4.5 Raymond: 3x4.5 Perron: 1x2 Veleno: 3x1.7 Johansson: 2x1 Holl buy out That gets us a 23 man roster with 3 mil in cap space to add depth, but that isn’t a terrible roster since it gives us three rookies with an opportunity to play big minutes. The positive is we then get to 2025 where Fabbri, Perron, Kostin, Petry, Maata and Husso come off the books. Plus our buyouts of Abdelkader and Yamamoto are over with. That amounts to almost 20 mil in cap space in addition to whatever the cap increases.
Berggren? I’d be absolutely shocked if Raymond’s cap hit is 4.5. He’s on pace for 70 and is very responsible defensively. What does a Holl buyout cost us? Don’t think Mazur is ready but happy to see what he has at this level.
Raymond should have been 5.5. That was a mistake on my part. That is about right for a bridge deal for him imo. I don’t think Berggren will be a Wing come the TDL, and I think Mazur is going to be almost a lock to make the team out of camp. A Holl buyout is about 1.3 against the cap.
You have us trading Berggren at deadline but no one on the roster who we got in the trade. Selling him for a rental?
I think he will be part of a deal for a rental, yeah. I could even see him being added to a trade with Holl to help rid ourselves of that contract.
We aren’t going to have a choice the way things are going with the cap. We need a few guys on ELCs making the roster.
As far as the deadline goes, I think the guys on the 23 man roster that we would consider dealing are: Kostin Holl Ghost Maata I don’t think Kostin is likely to get moved until the Summer, but he makes 2 mil and isn’t playing. I would do whatever is needed to trade Holl with minimal retention but a buyout seems like the easiest path to ridding that contract. Ghost can probably fetch a 3rd or 4th. I would consider it if only because his game doesn’t translate to the Playoffs. It doesn’t make sense to deal Maata now but if Detroit wants to get Edvinsson up they might not have a choice if they can’t move Ghost or Holl.
Still have no idea what Yzerman was thinking with the Holl contract. Can't make mistakes like that with a salary cap. Today is a must win. Can't give away games against bottom feeders. Back to back yes, but they arrived in Chicago at like 5pm. Probably same time they would if they didn't have a game the same day.
Scott Wheeler is about done with his farm system rankings and no Wings yet, which means we are officially in the top five.
Just so long as we don’t do something stupid and trade these soon to be cheap ELCs for rentals for a playoff run that isn’t gonna happen.
I really think Yzerman wants to give those guys a full season in ahl with a hopefully deep playoff run. Baring injuries, I'm not expecting us to bring them up. Next year I think we could have 2-4 promoted to start season
Currently with a 92% chance to make the playoffs. Goes up 1.7% if we win today and down 4.7% if we lose.
For a team that doesn't have a lot of games to get up for this year, this is like a playoff game for Chicago. Going to have to be sharp even given their spot in the standings
Team isn't playing great in front of him. Reimer game, biggest game Chicago is going to have this year and our 2nd of a back to back has trouble written all over this game
Stop making excuses. We’re basically playing the Pistons of the NHL. Don’t give a shit if it’s back to back or not
