We have one that’s a chase with a couch attached with the ottoman piece you can move around to be part of the couch or footrest. I hate that thing. I haven’t sat on it in probably a year. I just sit in my recliner. It was cheap because we don’t want to buy anything nice until we buy a house.
brolift passed out and pissed on our Bassett loveseat. I assured him it was fine as I had done the same before myself. It cleaned up and was perfectly fine. We ended up getting rid of them because the cushions finally wore out and didn’t feel like getting new ones. Plus it was that rustic leather stuff. Those things made it almost 20 years
We have a CR Laine which seemed like a good compromise of price and quality. We went up to Hickory, NC at the gigantic Furnitureland and sat on 10,000 sofas over a weekend when we bought it.
Some tips for buying a couch: -if you are spending a few thousand dollars, they should be able to show you a diagram or at least specs on the internal construction -you want real wood frame, preferably hardwood like maple or walnut but that is more expensive. Most mid tier couches are poplar. -for support, make sure the S springs are at least a 10 gauge, 8 gauge would be best. -In the showroom, pick up one corner of the couch. If it flexes at all as you lift it, its shit and frame isn’t durable
I have this thing, and it’s awesome. I don’t know a ton about all the different brands though, so it might be a total piece of shit and terrible quality compared to some of these other brands. It doesn’t seem that way though - it’s been rock solid for me, even through moving. https://www.furniturerow.com/pd/Max...g-Room-Furniture|Sofas-and-Seating|Sectionals
This was a good call. We just spent an absurd amount of money on a LoveSac couch about 9 months ago. Are they easy to clean? Yes, compared to other couches I guess. Doesn’t mean it’s a breeze. Also you think you’re gonna reconfigure it a bunch of times: you won’t. It’s kind of a pain and is really a two person job to get it to fit snugly. Also, couch looks good but is not a comfy napping couch in my opinion. Good sitting couch depth, not amazing napping comfort. 4/10. Would not buy again.
Had a pottery barn couch and it was a piece of garbage. Currently have a room and board L couch we bought in NYC. Good storage, pulls out to a bed, durable for kids & dogs. Will replace in a year or two as it's only moderately comfortable.
Macy's had some very nice leather ones on sale which we did for our dog that sheds and thinks he is a human
I actually hate every couch anyone has ever owned. They aren’t as comfortable as beds garbage furniture and I have 4
Basically what I did last time I got couches. Walked into a store and just sat down in any couch that had the right aesthetics and picked ones that felt nice. Couldn't even tell you the brand right now.
I just paid lotsss of money for a Lovesac bc the wife was hell bent. We have kids and pets so I understand the appeal. Otherwise, no one should be spending this kind of money on a sofa unless they’ve got the cash to burn.
Different discussion for the POORS among us What brands should we like/avoid on secondhand sales? Our house is a Craftsman 1910's house that has one big room in the front downstairs. The ideal couch would be a crescent-shaped single unit that's about 12' long. Of course that's a white elephant, but I DID see something fitting that description for dirt cheap the other day on marketplace (thus the comment).
