Are you going to the newish Westside location? Haven't been that one yet and am hoping they maintained the quality of the original
I am. We’ve probably been close to 10 times now and it’s always been great. We got oysters casino, smoked fish dip, blackened grouper sandwich, shrimp roll, hot fish sandwich, and brown butter potatoes last night along with a bunch of cocktails and it was killer. Yet to have anything close to a mediocre experience.
Kimball House tonight for wife's birthday. Any breweries in Avondale Estates worth checking out - preferably one that may have a decent selection of light beers?
idk about light beers, but Little Cottage and Lost Druid are both solid and seemed to have a decent variety. I've never liked anything at Wild Haven. Three Taverns has a good variety of non-IPA beers. Lagers, Pilsners, and Sasions and what not
thats shivious music but yea, tons of great breweries all close by. Little Cottage, Lost Druid, Wild Heaven, 3 Taverns, etc.
Don’t forget to vote Avondale as the #1 small town beer scene in America. Going for the illustrious 4-peat! Just scan the QR code at any one of our three breweries.
Anyone know if Pullman Yards is dog friendly? Want to check out Fishmonger patio, Owsley has me jonesing for some oysters
I haven't been in almost 10 years, but I'd be really sad if Six Flags over Georgia went out of business. It was such a fun part of my childhood.
First time at Gunshow last night. Way more casual than I had assumed, but a phenomenal meal and experience.
Well this isn't going to help Hundreds fighting at Six Flags turns into firefight with officers; 1 hospitalized
I take my kids to six flags all the time. Was actually there yesterday. I left a few hours before that but it's terrifying.
Who all has been to Shaky Knees the last couple of years? Haven't been since pre-COVID (I guess it was the first one back at Central Park, 2019?), wondering how the general setup and logistics have been as it's grown.
Not too much has changed logistically from 2019 other than some fine tuning like additional bathrooms, better spacing between food trucks, better access to water. Last year there was only on entrance, by the Civic Center off Piedmont Ave NE, but that was mainly due to the gun/open carry law. Having the entrance on Civic Center land, owned by the housing authority made it ‘private property’ opposed to Central Park being public. Entry was still as quick as ever and you could still exit onto North Ave. I believe last year was one of the top selling years as I think it sold out weeks in advance. Having said that, it never felt over crowded. There were 2-4 shows that were packed the fuck out, but you could still hear the show with good quality, away from the crowd if you wanted to. Tenacious D was insanely packed when I left whatever show I was seeing at the same time, I just went to the main stage beside and got a good spot for the headliner and could hear everything well. I’m guessing Arcade Fire will be that shit show this year. All that to say, you should definitely go. I’ve been to a ton of festivals in Atlanta and across the US. Sweetwood does a phenomenal job with Shaky and the other festivals he’s created.
Good stuff - appreciate it. Wanted to get down there last year for Greta Van Fleet but kids sport stuff became all encompassing that weekend. Gonna try Friday and Saturday (hate missing Foo Sunday but not doable). Glad they moved back to Central Park after the Centennial years. Always enjoyed those early years down there and it always felt really well put together and smooth (especially compared to some of the others locally). Sweetwood does Innings in Phoenix, doesn't he? Always wanted to do a western spring training + Innings one year.
It's in my neighborhood. I's really good, but being from Pensacola originally, I get a little picky: They don't have Bushwhackers to drink, they were using deep Atlantic shrimp versus gulf bay shrimp, and lastly, they don't have fried crab claws. All of those things made me really sad for a restaurant that is based off Emerald Coast restaurants. Outside of those things, it's an excellent seafood bar/restaurant -- the drinks are good, and the batter they use to fry the fish is perfect.
Ehhh... You can park on the street around it, like go into the neighborhood and park on the street in front of someone's house. We don't need a parking permit to park there, so you should be good. Also, there may be some parking out back, but I'm not sure.
Finally made it to Rodney Scott’s today and it did not disappoint. Whole hog blows regular pulled pork out of the water.
In the same vein, Brookhaven Fox Brothers counter service is incredible. Really solidifies Fox Bros as top tier in the city. Ate with daughter at Taylor'd after our morning at Willis Park and it was fantastic. Brisket, mac & cheese, and collards were great.
I left Sandy Springs a little after 4pm and it took over an hour and a half to get to the airport. I had to pull over on the side of the road in the area around the airport near all the parking to just piss on the ground because I couldn’t hold it any longer. Fix your traffic
A little known fact is that in all other large cities it is actually very easy to get to the opposite side of town in afternoon traffic
Brookie? We're across the way in Oak Grove which has received no love in this thread for our low taxes or good Dekalb schools.
First time at Fishmonger last night (Howell Mill location). Happy hour oysters and half priced Chenin blanc. Blackened grouper sandwich is absolutely elite.
