The only thing to redeem this season is if they do some twist where you get an advantage based on how many eliminations you went into. They leaned into the whole “to be the best you have to beat the best” and we’re stuck with a whole bunch of goobers who didn’t do anything
I think there is something to be said for playing a good social game, it’s definitely part of being a well rounded challenger, but this season you were basically able to skate 100% on your social game as long as you didn’t come in last place during the final phase which was like 3 daily’s.
yeah and that’s fine but you shouldn’t be able to coast to the final with strictly a social game. have to win or do something outside of controlling brainless people. the whole mantra of this season was “to be the best you have to beat the best” which has not held true whatsoever. i mean they had cara maria and laurel come in and do fkn puzzles for crying out loud.
The skulls were a great idea, but nobody played it as a strategy any of the (two?) seasons they were around. The whole cast was way too nice about it and allowed new people to keep trying to get one. Would have been awesome to have them ice people out of an elimination as a strategy.
They tried to do that to CT on Spies, Lies and Allies but him and Big T inexplicably won a daily and he was able to put himself in.
The season seemed so long and they had so many people on for so long and then just got rid of six people in two episodes
This final seems to really handicap the girls. Especially the girl/girl pairs. Doesn’t seem like anything is weight-adjusted.
Just extremely boring more than anything. CBS is doing their best to turn this show into survivor without any of the things that make survivor entertaining
I agree but I feel like season 40 is going to be an absolute blowout. I’ll reserve judgment. The lull before the storm.
TJ having to come up with some way to make it sound like each of them is deserving was PAINFUL. fuck that nonsense, wish he said none of them were deserving except for Nurys.
Emanuel crying over his girlfriend's letter only because he cheated on her the whole season was absurd lol
TJ cackling at Corey puking while the others are still eating was hilarious. His pure joy at their misery will always get a laugh out of me
While hilarious that Jay instantly got knocked out, it was also just a terrible way to eliminate someone. A nonsense team challenge followed up by a pick your opponent toss up puzzle balance elimination
Doesn't usually leak until right before the departure date. Vevmo has it as March (and has a preliminary speculation thread), so we should start hearing about people confirmed as cast or alternates pretty soon.
I love how they drove themselves insane trying to kill off Horacio and Kyland, only to let arguably the biggest threat float through with barely a second thought.
Just kept his head down and didn’t rock the boat. Certainly a strategy that, with a cast full of layups, worked.
I’m wondering if the CBS people are to blame for that. More money, more exposure but more Survivor-like challenges.
I wasn’t even really commenting on whether or not it was a physically tough challenge. A 2000M open swim would indeed be very tough. The way they produce these makes it impossible to know just how far ahead people actually are. They need to dial back making it seem like it is neck and neck while also showing us how they are actually performing and how tough it really is. Just everything about it stunk. There was basically no advantage to leading the individual check points, so many damn puzzles and resetting of the race. The nurys/moriah elimination was terrible. The puzzles ultimately killed it for me. The swim memory challenge was a good one but everything else was bad. Like a sudoku on the final is just not entertaining.
I do like the combination of having to do something exhausting/difficult and then doing a puzzle or doing a puzzle while doing it (the underwater swim thing), but yeah they've overcorrected in the name of challenger safety.
There always needs to be a men champ and woman champ. All these puzzles were to make things "equal" and there was obviously far too many of them.
That should be good. Just hope they figure out a way to stop Kam from running defense and letting Leroy win each daily like last time they were on. Really shouldn't have them both on the same season, it's going to be even cheesier than the Nany/Kasey stuff
The guy cast kind of sucks but the girls are pretty good. Makes me hope all the big name guys will be in the next season of the real challenge. That one is season 40 and they've been claiming it will be the biggest/best one.
I thought Leroy retired? or was that just from the main show and scheduling for All-Stars is more flexible?
Yeah All Stars schedule is substantially shorter. I think it's like a few weeks or a month max where as the flagship is like 2-3 months.
