Wife and I stayed there for a week back in 2018. We loved it. Had a swim up suite with a butler. All the food was good. Don’t really have any tips. Enjoy.
cant, working on a really tight schedule. I'm off to Ireland for the FSU-GT game. Driving on the left side of the road and driving a right side drive is gonna be an adventure to start. Cork- Maldron Shandon hotel Galway- Nest Hostel Dublin- Fitzgerald Castle Hotel Also anyone have good Florence and Rome hotels that wont break the bank? or just the correct area to search. Think my biggest obstacle is finding places with 2 beds
For Copenhagen, I’d take the train from the airport to Kongens Nytorv. Hit Hviids Vinstue for a pint at an old school Danish Pub. And then walk down Nyhavn street, it’s the famous block with the colorful buildings on the canal, get an overpriced drink at one of the canal side bistros. You can walk down that street all the way to a place called Popl which is a burger spot opened by some ex-Noma people or there’s a place called Barr which is elevated Danish food. That will probably take up 3.5 hours or so.
Wife and I are looking to do our 10 year anniversary trip in late April. Preference is to stay stateside or Mexico/Costa Rica. Probably 5 days. No preference on location but ideally not a family resort/hotel since we'll be living our kids with my mom. We live in Austin for reference so Carribean probably to far.
Barr is insanely good. That's a good itinerary if not a little lofty for the time. They have free lounge chairs and killer cocktails at the food Hall area in front of barr that sits on the water. It's about as an idyllic setting that exists on earth.
been 10 years since I was in Florence so I don’t have much for you there but if you have time, make the trip to Cinque Terre. in Rome I would recommend Trastevere or Regola areas to stay in.
Sitting in Chicago (which is sunny and unusually nice) and hoping you step on a stingray out of my jealousy
Delta catering out of Atlanta is elite Think the two best airplane meals I've had domestically are both the mashama Bailey stuff. It brings great shame to Minneapolis that we just use generic catering.
Little breezy on the windward side of San Pedro today. But being able to see the waves breaking on the barrier reef is cool Pic from our walk to breakfast this morning ETA: see, you can see the reef out there
Based on all of the feedback, the itinerary has been slightly updated. - 2/13 - 2/16: Explore Cartagena - Staying in the Getsemani neighborhood - Doing the Mud Volcano tour - Things to see: Muelle Turistico de los Pegasos, Plaza de Bolivar, Musuo del Oro Zenu, Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, and Convento de la Popa - Going to try and schedule the street food tour (as suggested by Nug ) - Going to try and eat at Carmen, Beiyu, and La Cevicheria - So many bars I want to stop by, and likely won't have time but definitely want to hit Cafe del Mar for sunset cocktails, Alquimico, and 51 Sky Bar - 2/16: Take a regional flight to Medellin - 2/16 - 2/21: Explore Medellin - Staying in the El Poblado neighborhood - Doing a day trip to Guatape and a coffee plantation tour - Haven't seen anything about riding horses at the top of the mountain after riding the cable car up, but will do more research ASAP - Planning to ride the cable car up but also want to try and see the murals and graffiti on the escalators - Things to see: Plaza Botero in El Centro and Museo Casa de La Memoria - Going to see if we can get reservations at Restaurante El Cielo and Envy Rooftop - Also stopping at Pergamino Cafe, Pergamino, and Cafe Colombo Credenza *Trying to get the GF onboard with going to see the Ind. Medellin vs. Fortaleza FC match in Medellin while we are there (2/17). Figure it would be a blast (as long as we are wearing the correct colors). - 2/21: Take a regional flight to Cartagena - 2/21 - 2/24: Staying out on Tierra Bomba to do at least a little "relaxing" (will likely rent bikes or something and ride around the island) Sorry for all of the information, I am currently hopped up on red bull.
Recs for a long birthday weekend in Puerto Vallarta? Debating using points for either the Marriott / Westin or getting an Airbnb type place
We stayed here last April: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/48105050?source_impression_id=p3_1707764957_tsAuEF8ZpiFJo+TF and loved it. Better deal than any hotel I could find (was a bit last minute & we needed space to work from). The Orchid building has an insane rooftop pool/restaurant set up + they do room service even though it's a condo building. A bit removed from town but a nice 20 minute walk on the beach or quick $5 Uber ride into Zona Romantica Florios Versalles was one of my fav meals I've had down there. If you like Lobster (or Langostine) venture down to El Jacalito in Mismaloya for some amazing food
Sunset cocktails at The Yeatman hotel. Very romantic spot Depending on how long you are there, take a train/boat ride into the Douro Valley. Incredible wine/landscape. Puts Napa to shame IMO
Just booked my first ever trip to Europe... pretty basic - flying into Paris, home from London... will have a few days in each. Obviously want to see some of the big tourist draws but what are some other interesting sites/food/drink recs to check out? Recs for places to stay? Places to avoid? Other tips/tricks?
Dunno how much time you have but if you can make it to Osteria di Casa Chianti for lunch/dinner I would highly recommend it. It's like 30-45min SW of Florence. Best meal we had by far
Also - advice and recs for getting into a EPL or Championship game in London would be appreciated... will be there in October.
1. Tour one of the port wine cavas (Calém, Burmester, Sandeman, etc…) on the other bank of the Douro, in Vila Nova de Gaia. Afterward walk to the top of the hill for a great view of Porto. Also pop into any bar on the way up and enjoy. 2. The Ribeira area along the riverbank at the bottom of the city by the Luis 1 bridge is the restaurant/bar/club district.
Cool. Just booked three rooms at Postojna Jama right at the mouth of the cave complex. Predjama is close, as is Lipica and the fabled stables so the wife can get her horse girl fix
We'll be traveling with our three grown children Getting 3bdrm airbnbs everywhere else, but we're only one night in Postojna and the hotel is very conveniently located
I’m thinking I narrowed it down to Aruba or Curaçao. Both come up a lot on best beaches and best places to snorkel. Trying to find a place that we can just walk right out and get in the water and see stuff like we had in T&C and Caymans. So many options.
does my heart good to see the Soça Valley continue to be overlooked. Let it remain a hidden secret and not get overrun Predjama and Postonja are both good for a day but other than the caves/castle I'm not sure there's much to do. We did Piran as a afternoon trip on our drive from Postonja to Split and wish we had planned more time. Coincidentally I'm working a project with a young guy from the private equity firm that owns our company who is from Trieste right across the border so ask me any Piran question Spoiler and I'll ask him and take credit for his answers
We ended up doing an AirBnB at Blue Bay. We were going to do The Reef there but the dates we needed had something funky with them that I can’t remember so staying about a 5 min walk to the beach. Figured we could play golf and Blue Bay had a dive shop so we can dive the drop right off the beach as well. Apprently there are two twin homes and we booked one of them. Not sure if this is the one or the other https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/707100...earch_id=b4833613-fe16-4e2e-9856-8a4788baec03
