Bill is good when he gets a celebrity who will do the whole pod and touch on stuff beyond the current project.
Bill, you being aggregated is really just a large, disparate audience online laughing at you in conjunction with one another.
am i the only one who thought bill missed larry's life lesson/joke about staying single as an up and comer? larry: my advice is to stay single because you can be uncompromising and are able to walk away when you don't get to do what you want bill: yeah, because you have to work really hard to make it (and can't have a wife/kids in order to do so) feels like he completely missed the mark but maybe im off
Don't get me started on how the show is worse live. I love Chris and Sean, but they're not trained stage performers.
Glad that my favorite baseball movie (Bang the Drum Slowly) is the same as Larry David. I actually watched it again last night before I even heard Larry say it.
I am still at a loss for words that bill is actually friends with Larry David. Great interview though.
Re-listening to this The Insider episode and, oh God, I had forgotten the period where Bill was complaining about Social Justice Warriors, before everyone else at the Ringer clearly told him to shut the fuck up.
you mean before the infamous "A Sad Day in America" podcast that scared him off Twitter for a year plus
He finds a way to bitch about it in every episode he does. Even in the Larry David interview he was probing “what couldn’t get made these days”.
it still blows my mind that koppelman discovered tracy chapman. i think about it every time i hear her sing or she's in the news.
Larry asking about how Bill’s wife deals with all the sports watching. and Bill tiptoeing around how he doesn’t watch any complete games other than Boston teams. Or college football, ever.
I'm only a little into the Super Bowl prop pod but has he mentioned the Celtics losing to the Lakers bench at any point since that game?
What is with this weird “oh poor Austin Reaves :(“ act Bill has been running with lately. He keeps acting like the Lakers are dying to trade him when every rumor has been about how teams covet him instead of what the Lakers are offering and how the Lakers don’t wanna move him unless they get an All Star back. Plus the fanbase still loves him, but Bill is framing it as though he’s the scapegoat for the season when that is Ham and nobody else
I saw that Bill has a solo pod where he talks for over an hour about his updated trade value rankings. That seems like a terrible thing to listen to.
lmao i was going to listen to that later and just assumed he was with house. no one wants to listen to bill talk to himself
I only saw it was solo because it showed up on my YouTube algorithm and I scrolled through it figuring Russillo or someone else was on with him. Maybe someone jumps on after the fact, but the hour+ on YouTube looked like it was just him talking. He's been doing that a lot lately and I don't get it. No one wants to hear him monologue about anything.
"Lets say the Clippers win the title this year...that would mean Kawhi won a title where he was the best player on 3 different teams, which has never happened before" - someone people say with total sincerity is a respected basketball historian
nobody on the planet thought Kawhi was either a superstar or the best player on the Spurs in 2014. He averaged 12 PPG.
for the same reason Iguodala (incorrectly) got it. He guarded LeBron and scored 17 PPG. Not exactly stuff I'm gonna tell my grandkids about. That was the ultimate team effort win if there ever was one. Kawhi scored 9 pts in each of the first 2 games of the series and never once touched 30.
Yeah that we're gonna tell our grandkids about from that one is that was the series where basketball was perfected. The highest level of performance any team has ever achieved.
I assume the disconnect is that LeBron was the best player on championship teams for 3 different organizations, not whether Kawhi was the best player on those Spurs teams (he wasn't).
It's both quite frankly. Also said if the Clippers won it all this year that Kawhi would be the best player of the last 10 years
Kawhi's 2014-2024 14 - won Finals MVP but only averaged 12 PPG for the season 15 - averaged 18.7 PPG and lost in the 1st rd to the Clippers (didn't make All Star each of the last 2 years) 16 - finally ascended to top guy level and averaged 23 PPG and they lost to OKC in the 2nd rd 17 - was absolutely incredible but got Zaza'd in the playoffs, they probably lose to GS but it's definitely a "what if?" 18 - literally quit on his team for reasons that have since vindicated the team and sat out the year 19 - his greatest season, had incredible injury luck in the playoffs but banners hang forever 20 - start of load management, embarrassing playoff collapse to Denver 21 - more load management, got hurt in the playoffs 22 - gone 23 - more load management, got hurt in the playoffs 24 - TBD
wife out of town. so is one good friend. can invite over a few others, but weighing watching it alone. Francesa has given me a lot to consider!
