Bruh there’s legit spots in nearly every ski town, bougie or not. Hell, some of the best sushi I’ve had in the US was in Telluride
I’ll be in town through late morning tomorrow so I’m hoping for some evening snow so I can do some morning laps. I’ve really enjoyed the mountain, even if it is smaller than the other Colorado resorts
I think I’ll just be snagging a mountain village pizza for the bills game. I’ll have to hit up brown dog during a summer trip
Brother booked two trips to Sun Valley this year. First one is right now with his family. There are like 15/120 runs open or some shit. These were the two pics he sent me today.
Not quite as dry in Colorado but could definitely use some January snow. prices for flights to Vancouver just dropped by 50 percent. Really thinking about whistler for march
I've had them for 2 seasons, just o/u 100 days. Out of all my ski related purchases ZipFit is number 1.
looks like colorado mountains is finally getting a week of consistent snow this week. probably going to Beaver Creek on Saturday.
I wish. I’m still down in Louisiana until the summer. Moved down here to help my mom when my Dad had a health scare. I’m looking forward to going back to being broke af when I move to the Rourke River valley
Berthoud and Loveland pass also closed. Might take PTO Tuesday or Wednesday to get some time in once tourists are gone. Spoiler More…
Got a bachelor party in bend Oregon in March. I live in Florida and have absolutely nothing besides an old ski jacket. What is the most economical option for gear?
Braved I-70 and went to keystone today. Colorado finally got its monster storm. Dumped for three straight days. Gonna set the season off. Vail and Beaver Creek the next two weekends, then a weekend trip to Crested Butte
My brother works on batchelor, PM me and I'll see if I can help. Also for any of the back country bros, please stay safe and use your noggin. Conditions everywhere are extreme.
Has anyone been a lifelong snowboarder and switched to skiing? Think this may finally be the year I try it out. Do a half day lesson and see how it goes. Thoughts?
going in march planning on fly to Portland and drive there. Hopefully it’s not to bad then. I’ll pm you. I basically need everything. Someone suggested this. It’s been about 8 years since I snowboarded. https://www.kitlender.com/?gad_sour...pvhGyvG7nXQNzsYtENctxhg6kmXtfnfBoCJlQQAvD_BwE
Skiing is easy. I wouldnt think too much of it. You will be able to get off the lift and down all the blues without an issue. Depending on how good you want to be or extreme would be where the lessons would come in.
How do you rate/describe Keystone? I am skiing there in 5-6 weeks, never been, never heard a review. Trail map looks like if you can get some cat runs it’s pretty good?
it had been pretty bare up until this major storm, so that's good news. it isn't my favorite mountain or anything, but I always have fun. The area under the outback lift is elite. I haven't been to the new bowls yet. If it is a warmish / bluebird day, go hang out by Lamonte's aka "The Beach"
thanks. And my expectation is a good 1.5 days of new skiing terrain but nothing special so sounds like I’ve got it right.
My biggest recollection of Keystone is that it's a giant PITA to get from the parking lot to the base... lot of walking and hauling gear. May not bug you much but I've been spoiled by places like Winter Park and Copper where I can park (or get a shuttle to drop me off) yards from a lift.
River Run to the Gondola lift isn't really that bad . Certainly not any worse than Vail, Beaver Creek, or Breck.
It has everything. Small town so not much else to do but the mountain. They have a lot of blue options. The backside blues can be ice but a beautiful gondola ride and great runs with not a lot of people as already mention. Back bowl had blacks for days if you are motivated. I have never been and wouldn’t be able to handle that level of blacks. Restaurant scene is poor at best. Steep brewery is good for beers and coffee and has decent food. The one not at the base is better for service and food options and I think stays open later. Good people run it (or did).
My BILs brother has a multimillion dollar home at the end of the path from river run. We can ski from the house downhill to the base on good days.
Of all the time I spent in Eagle/Summit counties, riding these trees is what I remember most. Just over and over and over again.
I’m skipping this year to do Tahoe. Need to figure out a weekend to sneak out. Not really my hookup but man it is amazing. He has cameras all over the house though…
Tahoe is a blast. been the last two ski seasons. Think I am passing this year to do Whistler, but highly recommend
Presume you guys are staying near Heavenly? cosmic bowl is the best. Northstar is huge and quite fun if you really explore. very popular place, obviously. Kirkwood and Palisades are on my to-do list. unfortunately they are on separate passes
Similar to Paddy Murphy Ive got a three day ikon pass I intend to use at either winter park, keystone a-basin, or copper mid-march. Any recs for where to stay? I’m leaning towards winter park/fraser, but open to alternatives with berthoud pass closing this week scaring me a little.
Keystone is an EPIC resort, not Ikon. Vail Pass (which you have to take to get to Copper) got closed down at times this weekend too, so that's just how it goes
