A frames rule. Sounds awesome. Just beware the general contractor racket. Few sectors where price gouging bullshit is as rampant following covid. Don't just digest it from one of them that shrugs and says "byep. Labor n materials is what it is pay up." You can work and design creatively. The shitburglers don't have to own your destiny. GCs I talked to at the outset of this quoted absolutely insane numbers. Fuck em, we brought in a few subs we found on our own, did a ton ourselves, and it's so far been 1/5th as much as the lowest GC quote and are very pleased with what we've got.
Oz I will offer whatever help I can be making that project happen. I am not a qualifiedsman, but I've learned a shit ton about creative ways to build what you want while adhering to code and avoiding having to goatsee yourself for contractors. All I ask as payment is a sleeping bag on your A frame floor, your finest red wine and tales of Portland life.
Yep that pnkskrt house is every man's dream. My wife's cousin is building an A-frame outside Bend, OR and it's going to be amazing, so jealous.
If any of y'all end up doing something like an A-frame, or some other sorta open, rugged build, do not waste money on an hvac contractor. New generation self-install heat pump + wood burning backup ftw
I'm talking to myself now. But you should all build some shit on some land. Sure, you'll miss things like "restaurants" and "movie theaters" and "other people" but there's no greater joy than just having everything the way you made it. Doesn't need to be much. Sometims I just spend hours opening and closing a door I just re-hung while I nod with satisfaction.
No offense to user pnk but Fuck that A frame. Way too open for my likes. My goal is to hide away from the rest of the fuckers that live here, I don’t want them to see me at all times.
every now and then he smiles like DeSantis trying to look like a normal person and I worry the fuck us remains
dad co-owns a pretty decently sized agricultural construction company. Company started, in mid 70’s (he got in early, stayed around so long that he bought part of it out when offered) and they did grain bins and houses. Any of that stuff I turn to him. He is pretty damn versed in it which helps a ton.
As a former (praise Thom) insurance adjuster I’m unhappy to report that your pipes can freeze no matter when the home was built. Unless it’s a pnkshrt shit brickbarn.
That's exactly right. A frames are fuckoffatoriums not meant to be shared. People are like "oh are you gonna finish that room for a guest suite" and I'm like hell no the a frame tiny house out there is for those other people
Read on 24/7 that Rhule has flipped more than 75 roster spots since he took over. I knew it was a lot but goddamn. Most are young dudes too.
Would love for them to grab DH because that seems like a natural OC move in the future if/when Satt needs or choses to move on.
Nebrasketball 3 point underdogs at Jersey Mikes Arena tonight. Probably as close to a must win as possible for a game in the middle of the season. Rutgers is ranked in the 90s so a loss isn’t great for the resume, but it might be more needed for the team’s psyche since they’ve looked like complete ass on the road besides the 1st half of Minnesota and K-State games.
