herb.burdette does this mean OSU won’t have the youngest team in the country for the first time in many seasons next year?
We return all of our DTs that had 1 covid year left, which is pretty big for us. We are going to have a really good defense again next year if we find CBs worth a shit. Feel confident younger guys will develop there. Our coaches there have developed guys consistently at the position. WR will still stink with limited playmakers but hey maybe new OC can help them and Allar. OL should be fine.
Yes, if all these guys return, it means the OSU team that was the youngest in the Big Ten in 2021 will be the most experienced in 2024.
Ehh wouldn’t say this. Oregon and osu will be ahead of us minimum and if JJ is back so will Michigan. If you win Monday though it seems likely to me Hairball and JJ are both off to the nfl just from looking at it from 30k foot level
Our schedule may work out for us. Don’t play Oregon or Michigan, OSU at home and Washington loses a ton of guys. Still tough but could be worse
I said "a" favorite for just these reasons. We'll need to see how these west coasters adapt to the travel and the style next year. I think we have a big roster setback next year plus a nightmare schedule. I think you're maybe better than OSU roster-wise depending on how they do with guys returning. Then there's Franklin. Plus you're replacing both coordinators, which is tough.
A great year to get UW. KdB is going to get them going again, but they lose so much next year. From skill to age/experience. If Lanning can’t clip them at home next year, oh buddy.
a title caliber team could still go 10-2, 9-3 next year w/ our sched. Texas is probably the toughest week 2 test i can remember (maybe 07 oregon)
If Allar still their QB they aren’t doing shit. Couldn’t complete 50% of his passes in 3 of his last 4 games.
I think a new OC will help Allar and really I don’t think he was the biggest problem on our offense this year
we didn’t do him any favours this year. I don’t think he’s an elite talent but he should be better than the tape we saw in the second half this year
Does Franklin trust Allar in the downfield passing game? seems like it was a lot of check downs and intermediate passes. Or could it be the WRs not getting separation? Combo of both?
That I put a lot on Franklin. He seemed to drill into his head to protect the football and it was to Allar’s detriment so much that he didn’t trust what he was seeing and NEVER took chances to throw it into tight windows. Allar never really adjusted or deviated from that all season. Couple that with a really mediocre WR group and a pedestrian offensive scheme that never really schemed guys open, and you have a nonexistent intermediate to deep passing game
I like Rhule I think NEB got a good coach. He left Temple and Baylor in better shape than when he got there but both were short stints. Will he wait his time out at NEB until Franklin is fired then hop to PSU?
Michigan’s schedule is difficult, but I feel like it’s getting a little overblown. The biggest difference is a non-con game vs Texas. And then Oregon is probably tougher than Penn State was. USC keeps getting treated like a tough game by some people and I don’t understand why. It’s also 8 home games and 4 road games.
The opportunity is definitely there for a RB. 2 of our top 3 returning guys had season ending injuries this year and the room isn’t super strong anyway.
He was our 5th back, though most of our board felt he should be 4th. Had 3/4 ahead of him returning so we get it.
Washington’s also on there. Also, Indiana’s new coach says we suck, so I’m sure they’ll beat us, too.
I don't get that comparison at all. The defense isn't as good but the offensive weapons are way better. Iowa would kill for just one of Washington's top 3 WRs.
