Sean, can you please have the young man clarify why he was sleeping in so late on a weekday instead of hitting the gym? IS this what Rhule wants in a recruit?
I love Rhule's philosophy of taking athletes and finding places for them if the initial position doesn't work out, too. We need a lot of dbs but I imagine some of these dudes will move to other spots eventually.
It's so funny to me how Nebraska is nearly always 15-25 in recruiting rankings no matter the coach. I think the biggest difference that makes me excited about Ratt is his focus on development because we've never had a problem grabbing top 25 talent. Our coaching and development have just been dogshit.
Rhule said Eric Fields is no longer on the team, haven’t heard why. He was an intriguing piece so that’s a bummer
Nebrasketball news. Sounds like Mast might sit out tonight due to a knee injury. Saw he was wearing a brace vs KSU.
Congrats Husker fam, hellova haul. Reeling in Raiola and holding on to Kaelin is impressive. The OL recruits in this class are a real bright spot too. Hoping we catch Raiola in his first start- Rutgers trip to Lincoln next season got a whole lot tougher after today.
Yeah and prioritizing athletic potential. Some of these guys are gonna end up sucking, but it won't be because they're slow or small. This class is gonna change shit around here. I don't care where it's ranked.
Honestly, if I had absolutely zero clue who was in this class but you told me the following: -29 signees, putting us 20 above the scholly limit with several taking NIL schollies -every single one prepared, squared away, shored up, ready to send in their LOIs without any drama -2 HS QBs -shit ton of OL I'd say it was a job done professionally AF. This recruiting class is masterful work.
I also get the sense Rhule knows these recruits really, really well. Knows exactly what he's getting.
The underrated thing about Raiola and something that hopefully makes a huge difference with him starting beyond the obvious talent is 1 goddamn interception as a senior. 11 total in his 3 year career with 881 passing attempts and 8442 yards. If he takes care of the ball like that as a qb at Nebraska it'll mean a several game swing in the win column each year on that alone.
Gonna shitpost about some of these guys here and there as I watch their vids and figure out what the class looks like because I don't really follow it like I used to. This Larry Tarver fella, I am a big fan. One, I am a fan of anyone under 70 named Larry. Two, this mofo is fast as shit. He's listed as a db but he looks really good with the ball in his hands returning INTs. Could see him playing receiver or returning punts/kicks or something. V big fan good job staff.
Amare Sanders, my god at this first clip. Only half a season of highlights and I don't watch individual games because aintnobodygottimefodat. I love defenders who implicitly want to hit people really fuckin hard, but DBs especially. Our back 7 hit like they were unafraid of their own personal welfare and safety in 2023 and this gentleman looks like he will fit right in. Big fan of these Miami guys.
Speaking of DB’s, I hope Singleton comes back strong from injury. Thought he was playing the best in the secondary before getting injured.
He was by far the best in the secondary. Dude was physical and came down hill like we haven’t seen since the Pelini days when we knew how to stop a jet sweep.
Vince Shavers is fast and athletic and likes to hit people. They line him up on the LOS a lot in this and iirc Willis McGahee did that a lot too which is interesting. Another dude I really really like. Exactly the kind of guy who can move between positions and kill it in White's defense.
Yeah, my parents + our grandparents had season tickets starting in 91. Our grandma would miss whatever game IAHusk wanted to attend and she would watch in the student union without a care in the world. Meanwhile my dad/grandpa got to bond while we sat together and reveled in the good times
Secondary of Singleton, Gifford, Hill, Buford, Hartzog is a great start before even having any of these other guys emerge.
Ya know, I thought we should upgrade the secondary, but after looking at those names. that should be good enough for a big season as long as the offense finds itself somewhat
Looking at the 2023 defensive depth chart and subtracting departures it'll prob go for starters in 2024 (before anyone else emerges and whatnot and whathaveyou): LDE: Ty Robinson NT: Nash RDE: Butler/Lenhardt/Williams Jack: Gbayor/Sherman/Princewill MLB: Wright WLB: Bullock Rover: Gifford LCB: Hill SS: Singleton FS: Buford RCB: Hartzog That's a hell of a start.
I love Hartzog. Probably partial cause I went to school in MS, but he just always looks like he’s giving maximum effort and that tackle in the 4th of whatever game was big time
