I think it's probably a combo of replacing a great defender with a horrible one, and also a new coach after Bud ran essentially the same system with the same group for 5 years. I don't know that Lopez has slipped necessarily. At least not when I've watched them.
Both of those combined with griffin trying to implement a completely different system that is not suited to Lopez what so ever. When we were decimated with injuries this boy couldn’t get playing time his dad is friends with people in the organization that’s why he was chosen that’s it I’m so fucking tired of this shit and Mosley for not even trying to get shooters on the court instead he’s obsessed with forcing Suggs on us who plays hard but is AWFUL offensively

It's also wild to me that, even in a statement where he's basically saying "we need to figure out a way to get Draymond the help he needs to not choose to choke people on the court," he's still excusing him to be an insane person who can freely get Ts and get ejected any time he wants. I have no understanding of why they've put up with this stuff for his long, or why they think they have to allow him to act the way he does when it's really not that hard not to.
The traditional thinking has been that he is the “soul” of the team or some shit. It’s stupid and used to excuse years of both poor play AND idiotic violence. I don't think the NBA community as a whole fully appreciates the impact a really good POA defender can have on your overall defense. Defensive impact convos are always focused on bigs primarily but even the best bigs on defense can't do shit if their guards are dying on screens. Haven't watched the Bucks yet this year but I'd suspect that change is a large part of the issue
