Georgia Tech got called for zero penalties in the game. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that happen at any level of football.
We're all way past college age but ran into a few Bammers at the bar yesterday/today, felt old as fuck talking to the kids these days. Meant to post in yalls thread but assumed no one came to Tampa for the game?
It was a solid win - we need Tre Harris back bad. Trigg with another critical drop that could have lost us the game if things had started going south.
So what's the QB hierarchy now? I can't think of a year where it's been this much of a shitshow. It seems like everyone has had some rough games already and we're 3 games into the season.
Buddy they're all chasing Graham Mertz. In all seriousness he does't have elite talent but can make a lotta throws, team respects him, and willing to sell out to help the team when necessary.
I agree with MLS that Dart is legit but our OL looks mediocre at best and we have our two best offensive weapons hurt. Not exactly a confidence builder.
It's the first time since 2015 it's happened at Tech and they were playing Alcorn State in that game, only happened 8 times in the history of Georgia Tech football
I see they were away team so ACC refs? It's been 20 years and sorry to make this about UF but anytime I contemplate ACC refs it's the Swindle in the Swamp and I hope no other team will ever get screwed over that bad.
You’d have to be hardcore to go to Tampa and get rained on just to see Buchner play the worst football of an Alabama QB in the Saban era. I can’t imagine how miserable that would have been
It will be Simpson or Milroe. We haven’t seen enough of Simpson to really know what he’ll do. Milroe is who he is. We need to run the ball with Roydell. How is yalls defense at stopping the run? What is the strength of the Ole Miss defense? Our offensive line is the biggest problem we have. They are absolutely god awful. Outside of 2007 and maybe including 2007 , worst OL of the Saban era. And we were told they would be the strength of the team. I’d blitz the piss out of them all day if I was Ole Miss. Our tackles weigh 400 pounds and look like elephants chasing cheetahs if you send undersized speed rushers around them. OL has been good in run blocking at times. They got a good push in the 1st half of the Texas game and 2nd half of the USF game. They are atrocious in pass pro. Oh yah , I’d also blitz linebackers right at our running backs in pass pro who always get pancaked and give up sacks
We for some reason try our best to not play to our strengths and are fine just giving up chunks of yards. Perkins would be one of the best edge rushers in the league and we stopped utilizing him after the first game for some reason. Mercer rushed for 93, Tulane 111, Georgia Tech 167 so not horrible but as I've mentioned a decent QB will pick us apart We have solid talent at DB but they seem confused by the scheme half the time so it's a mess We were going to use Judkins a lot more before the rib injury Our two best receivers are currently wearing casts and Judkins is very clearly not close to healthy - Bently looks like he's going to be really solid though Dart is a stud, if not for drops his stats would be much better, we need Tre back asap
I mean, Georgia Tech put up 307 passing yards on us if that helps Also our kicker is apparently a fucking animal so I'm sure that will come in handy
Owsley Memorial SEC Power Rankings - Week 4* 1. Georgia - Run the damn ball Bobo. Carson Beck is adequate but he ain’t the one. Kirby seemed unfazed by the halftime deficit in his interview. Which felt weird because he comes from the Saban lineage of complain when your team is good and be softer when they’re not at that championship level. I could be wrong though. Still best in the league. UGA has a noticeable number of white players making plays at the skill positions. Eat your hearts out Cornhusker fans. 2. LSU - Love a good palindrome beat down. I still think their ineffectiveness running the ball outside of Daniels is weird and will cost them another game. Nabers is the real deal. 3. Ole Miss - It was Georgia Tech and the defense is still poop. However I want to be positive first and commend their second half adjustments this season. Mostly on the offensive side. Like LSU over relying on their QB running to the point Judkins seems to be an afterthought so far. Pete Golding revenge game this week. 4. Missouri - Someone has to be here and Mizzou probably has the best nonconference win thus far. Also one of the few teams to get a nonconference win (I’ll get to you later Arkansas). Brady Cook had good stats throwing although K-State had a decent amount of blown assignments. Having a reliable kicker is such a luxury, I say as a UF fan. 5. Florida - I did not want to do this but everyone else’s team being bad forced my hand. Yes, you too Auburn and Kentucky despite your records. This is an indictment of the league and I expect it might be UF’s high watermark this year. 6. Tennessee - It’s a Mickey Mouse offense but you still have to have middling accuracy which Joe Milton clearly does not have. This feels like a transition year until Nico takes over. 7. Auburn - I don’t waste my time and comment on teams that play FCS 8. Texas A&M - Bounce back game against Louisiana Monroe. Did what they were supposed to do but one week isn’t going to make us forget the drubbing in Miami. Also DJ Durkin is still there. 9. Kentucky - Devin Leary continues to play above average but something about this team is off. Barion Brown and Dane Key appear to be in witness protection which is surprising after their freshmen year success. Cats haven’t played anyone all season and Vandy is next which is why they remain low. Probably the one team that I have no idea what they are yet. 10. Alabama - Worst QB room in the conference despite having 5 on scholarship. Are they better overall than most of the teams above them. Of course. However, QB is so bad that if they played against anyone else in the SEC like they did this weekend, they would have lost. The defense looks stout though and will need to start scoring like years past in order to further support this offense. The offensive line is helter skelter. Proctor is either letting someone through or holding. And when Buchner or Simpson had time their internal clock was sped up to the point that they didn’t realize it. Milroe clearly gives them the best chance of winning games but don’t know how you can go back to him since I’m assuming gods plan is to transfer. Now watch them beat Ole Miss. 11. South Carolina - I mean y’all tried. Spencer Rattler is probably the best QB in the conference. He may not make it through the entire season. Juice Wells seemingly having a lost season sucks. First half probably brought some reprieve against people that are dissatisfied with Beamer. Fans of the losing team next week against Mississippi State is going to be calling for the head coach to be fired. 12. Arkansas - Arkansas just doesn’t have it. Comedy of errors against BYU. Just a brutal fumble by Jefferson on the second to last drive and then to do it again on the last drive. And then jumping offside on 3rd and 5. And then a hold on the last drive negating a run that brought Arky to the BYU 20. Followed by a false start. And then a holding on the second to last play. Lastly a pass to the offensive lineman to end the game. And honestly, worse than all that was taking a photo with the Huckabees. Freshman TE is a beast though. 13. Mississippi State - Just got trucked so bad by LSU at home to the point that LSU fans no longer hate Jayden Daniels. The coaching situation is awkward. I don’t think Arnett is the long term answer. The offense is a shell of itself and the defense isn’t even at Muschamp Florida/South Carolina levels to feel good about that side of the team 14. Vanderbilt - Losing to UNLV puts a serious roadblock on the drive to go bowling. Inexcusable really at this point and based on last year’s progress. 15. Texas *If you have any complaints send it to [email protected]. Please do not slander me or insult my family.
Bama fans - we all laughed when Damieon George said our o line talent was as good as Bama’s when he transferred but maybe he was right and we were just wrong for assuming y’all had a good o line?
I think you (accidentally??) answered your own question. I feel like he knows there are problems that may not be able to be fixed this year
Damieon George is fucking terrible and would still not be playing on this line. Does he start for y’all?
Chris Owens:Damieon George::Jalen Milroe:Tyler Buchner Chris Owens was so bad we were begging for him to be benched for anyone and finally against Auburn they put in George. Within 2 series we were yelling for them to put Owens back in. He was stunningly bad.
Yeah, he’s been really bad. I think Kiyaunta Goodwin would have probably won the RT job if he didn’t leave the team.
In college, not getting a 61 yard attempt blocked is an accomplishment. That motherfucker would’ve been good from 65. And to finish off an upset of a top 15 team, no less.
Honestly, I think the biggest issue is dealing with success. It’s hard to keep a team focused when they’ve been winning so much and they’re not accustomed to adversity.
*whisperers* it wasn't that good last season. Mizzou Ole Miss and State carrying the brand is hilarious to me.
Very much agree. I think we're a solid team but I haven't seen that sense of urgency "hair on fire" play from this team. Just flat performances
It was fairly lacking last year but it wasn't obvious that it was 3 weeks into the season I think is the difference
I dig this 2007-esque CFB season. Alabama having legitimate problems (I still think they go 10-2) makes for interesting SECW conversations. LSU still has massive problems in the WRs room, special teams, and the secondary. Piledriving Miss State didn't really answer any of the questions that the FSU matchup presented. What happens if a year 1 Auburn beats A&M next week? I know nothing about Arkansas at the moment.
I know it’s too early to call the Heisman but Payton Thorne had over 400 total yards and 3 total TDs yesterday. Reminds me a little bit of Cam Newton
Would you trade Caleb Williams straight up for him right now yes or no? He's clearly the best player in college football.
