Really the only easy choice imo is Streetlights just because it’s an all timer. But at the same time, Cigarettes and Wine, However Long. Coda, the Blue and The Last Song I Will Write are all great songs in their own right. Also if the Assassin counts for Sirens I’d give it a slight edge
Sirens: Hurricanes JI and 400: Sunstroke HWR: Tour of duty Southeastern: Relatively easy SMTF: Speed town NS: Molotov Reunions: Only children Weathervanes: King of Oklahoma
Agreed. All those songs are great but Streetlights might be my favorite song of his. And the story about where the "think I blocked just a park away" line is really good
Sirens: The Assassin JI and the 400: Streetlights Here We Rest: Stopping By Southeastern: Elephant SMTF: Speed Trap Town Nashville Sound: Tupelo Reunions: Overseas Weathervanes: King of Oklahoma/When We Were Close
Sirens: Hurricanes and hand grenades 400: Streetlights Here we rest: Codeine Southeastern: Different days I guess Something more than free: 24 frames Nashville sound: Cumberland gap Reunions: Overseas Weathervanes: King of Oklahoma
He told it in the Bluebird documentary from a few years ago. Something like, he performed the song there early in its existence, while the line was still "parked just a block away", but he got so nervous that he accidentally said "blocked just a park away". No one knew he screwed it up and that was the line all the other writers were raving about so he kept it
SOTD: Dress Blues 400: Cigarettes and Wine Here we rest: Alabama Pines Southeastern: Elephant Something more than free: Something More Than Free Nashville sound: Hope and The High Road Reunions: Dreamsicle Weathervanes: King of Oklahoma
Sirens: the Magician JI and 400: Streetlights HWR: Stopping by Southeastern: Live Oak SMTF: Speed Trap Town NS: Cumberland Gap Reunions: Running With Our Closed Weathervanes: When We Were Close
Sirens: Razor Town JI and 400: Cigarettes and Wine HWR: Alabama Pines Southeastern: Flying over Water SMTF: 24 Frames NS: Last of My Kind Reunions: Dreamsicle Weathervanes: King of Oklahoma
This is fucking impossible but: Sirens: Razor Town JI and 400: Streetlights HWR: Alabama Pines Southeastern: Elephant SMTF: Speed Trap Town NS: Vampires Reunions: Dreamsicle Weathervanes: Cast Iron
Going with the songs that hooked me the first time I heard them from each album Sirens: Dress Blues JI and 400: Streetlights HWR: Alabama Pines Southeastern: Cover Me up SMTF: 24 Frames NS: Vampires Reunions: Overseas (I was at the first show the song was played at in Santa Barbara) Weathervanes: King of Oklahoma / When we were close
Sirens: Dress Blues JI and 400: Cigarettes and Wine HWR: Go It Alone Southeastern: Songs That She Sang In The Shower SMTF: Speed Trap Town NS: Last Of My Kind Reunions: Overseas Weathervanes: Strawberry Woman
Went last night in RVA, great show. Outside venue on the river and a CSX train rolled through and blared its horn during Miles. Pretty cool

Since I interact with them the most in here does anyone else get Nole0515 and gilstein21 mixed up because of the avatars?
No worries, it’s a soothing avatar. But it didn’t occur to me until a week later that you’d posted the Isbell playing with DMB post. I thought that was Nole0515 who usually tags me in Dawes or DMB stuff and was briefly peeved with him.
Seeing him Sunday night and I am shocked there are still normal price/non resale tickets available. Venue only holds 1800 or so.
I really don’t know. I mean at this point everybody has to know exactly where he stands and has for years. Maybe a Sunday night show in Myrtle Beach just isn’t popular. I bought tickets in a presale and a buddy just picked one up today and it surprised me. I would bet Charleston would sell out for a venue that size.
I was wondering if you were there. Browns Island isn't always my favorite, but pretty solid weather for August and I thought they sounded great. I kopped the show t-shirt and the poster, liked em both a lot. Spoiler: Pics
I don’t love browns island for shows outside of things like Friday cheers but I thought they sounded great. Better crowd than I was expecting too. I wanted both the print and the shirt but forgot to go to the merch area. Hoping there were extras and they hit the online store at some point.
Razor town Streetlights Alabama Pines, Stopping by, daisy Mae, tour of duty (tough one) Flying over water Speed trap town, children of children Last of my kind, vampires River King of Oklahoma, when we were close, vestivia hills
Jason sat in with Trouble No More (Allman Brothers Band tribute) tonight in Asheville Pretty pretty cool
Asheville show was great. Not surprising but they really jammed out This Ain’t It and Miles Jason sounded great, but Amanda was missed
I know we all list among his best but goddamn the last verse of Streetlights is so profound Close your eyes and remember this It won’t be back again it’s almost gone Even times that don’t seem like much will be your only crutch when you’re alone Time moves slow when you’re seventeen and then it picks up steam at twenty one Pretty soon you’ll remember when you could remember when you loved someone
I think that album and that song in particular was when I realized Isbell was gonna be more than fine on his own. Obviously his Truckers stuff was amazing and Sirens of a Ditch has some great songs even it’s spotty but that album really felt complete and he’s only followed it up banger after banger.
My wife wanted shit all to do with country (blanket label for anything acoustic adjacent) until she heard this song.
Could my dreams take up too much space? I’ll never find a place that’s big enough. goddamn that’s an underrated line in Streetlights
